Why Bet on Navy?

The Midshipmen won 29-17 over South Florida when these two teams met last year in Annapolis, and that winning experience should count in their favor as they seek to get the job done once again this Friday Night. In terms of playing styles, the Midshipmen use their famous triple-option offense option that heavily relies on running the ball, a key reason they are averaging the fourth-highest rushing yards in the nation. The excellent nature of this offense was evident in the upset win over #6 Houston barely a month ago, followed by another stellar performance in 42-28 win over Memphis last week where the Midshipmen rushed for a season-high 447 rushing yards. QB Will Worth was the star of the show, as he accounted for a career-best five TDs (two passing, three rushing) and 286 yards in the win; something that should motivate him when he goes against South Florida’s offense that can equally rush and pass the ball. And as an added advantage, the Midshipmen boast of a better scoring defense (allowing 25.PPG) compared to that of the Bulls that is allowing 28.38 PPG. With this D, the visitors should be able to make up for their offense (33.8 PPG scoring) that ranks considerably low compared to South Florida in terms of scoring.

Why Bet on South Florida?

As has been the case for pretty much the whole season, the Bulls’ charges will be spearheaded by their dynamic star in quarterback Quinton Flowers, who is the team’s leading passer and runner with 1722 passing yards and 15 touchdowns (against just 5 interceptions) plus 108 carries for 745 rushing yards and 8 additional touchdowns on the ground. The versatility of Flowers and his budding offensive weapons is the key reason why the Bulls are averaging a conference-best 42.4 points per game. South Florida was, however, not able to get a winning result in its last outing, falling 46-30 to Temple largely due to a number of defensive lapses. Even so, bettors should not be too worried, as the Bulls—who had won 9 straight vs. AAC opponents prior to the loss against Temple—are well-capable of making the necessary adjustments on both sides of the ball to ensure a winning performance against Navy.

My Betting Picks and Predictions

Even with Navy having a defense that has been playing decently, the Bulls should be more than capable of using their explosive offense to find holes and stretch the Midshipmen D for a good number of scores. Worth will prove his worth (no pun intended) by leading Navy to scores of its own, but when all is said and done, the Bulls will most likely outscore the visitors to take the win plus the points. Predicted Final Score: South Florida 45, Navy 35 Writer’s NCAA Football Pick: South Florida (-6.5)
