Ole Miss at Texas A&M Week 11 Free Picks

Texas A&M will meet Ole Miss for just the ninth time in Week 11 this year. The opponents rarely met before Texas A&M moved from the Big 12 to the SEC, meeting in 1911, 1914, 1975 and 1980 before starting a yearly rivalry as SEC West members. The Aggies won the first six meetings, but the Rebels have won the last two, winning 35-20 in College Station in 2014 and then rolling to a 23-3 win in 2015 at home. Why should you bet on Ole Miss?

The Aggies come into 2016 in disarray. Much of the progress that Kevin Sumlin had made in his first years in College Station dissipated as he had not one but two quarterbacks transfer out of the program between the end of the regular season and their bowl game. The Rebels return with Chad Kelly leading the offense — and his guidance led the way to the #8 scoring attack in the nation. The running attack will not be as strong, but if the line can open some holes, Kelly will have some more time. Their defense is also spectacular and will still face a strong pass rush even without Robert Nkemdiche around anymore. Even without him, the Rebel defensive line needs to pin their ears back and get in the face of opposing quarterbacks.

Why should you put your money on the Aggies?

Armani Watts returns to harass opposing offenses. In the Ole Miss game last year, he recorded 20 tackles, fifth most in Aggie history. He also picked off a pass and blocked a punt. The fact that Ole Miss is only returning nine total starters — the fewest in the entire conference — means that Kelly will have less time to pass and fewer primo targets. Kelly threw three picks in the matchup last year — the key to the win was the lack of the Aggie offense’s production. If the Aggies can move the ball and keep up the defensive pressure, they should win.

My Free Pick and Final Score Prediction

I don’t think the Aggies can put things together well enough given their disarray at quarterback to score much on Ole Miss. I’m predicting a 24-16 Rebel win.
