College Football Week 2 Preview: Top Games, Over/Under Picks, and Expert Analysis

Here we analyze the NCAAF Over/Under Picks! It’s not often that we think about a Heisman Trophy winner coming from a Group of Five school, but Boise State tailback Ashton Jeanty is getting that kind of hype.

In Week 1, he set a school record with 267 rushing yards on just 20 carries in the Broncos’ 56-45 victory over Georgia Southern.

His first touchdown went for 77 yards and ended with a Heisman pose. On the day, he had a total of six touchdowns, another Boise State record.

In his senior season at Lone Star High School (TX), he scored 41 touchdowns, so he’s used to stacking up scores. As a freshman with Boise State, he didn’t start but still picked up almost 900 all-purpose yards and scored six times.

In his sophomore season, he caught five touchdown passes and picked up 569 receiving yards. He could have transferred to a Power 4 school, but he decided that a legacy with Boise State was more important.

In Week 2, Jeanty and the Broncos visit the University of Oregon. What will he accomplish? While you ponder that question, let’s look at some sports betting advice on a few point total props from Week 2 action.

NCAAF Over/Under Picks from Week 2 – Top Games to Watch and Bet On

Duke Blue Devils (+2.5) at Northwestern Wildcats (O/U 37)

Friday, September 6, 9:00 pm ET

Both of these teams come in with 1–0 records. The Blue Devils rolled over Elon in Week 1, 26-3.

Northwestern beat out Miami (OH), 13-6. You might think that neither team believes in the forward pass after looking at those scores, but what we learn is that both teams have fairly stout defenses.

Both teams went 8-5 last year, and both played in bowl games at the end of the 2023 season that produced fewer than 30 combined points.

Duke notched eight sacks against Elon and limited them to just 140 yards of total offense. Northwestern forced a pair of turnovers and limited Miami to 40 yards on the ground, with an average of 1.7 yards per attempt.

They allowed only 4.1 yards per play on the day. In 2023, they held their opponents to single digits in four of their 13 contests and below 20 points in six.

NCAAF Pick: Take the under.

Cal Golden Bears (+13) at Auburn Tigers (O/U 53.5)

Saturday, September 7, 3:30 pm ET

Cal beat UC-Davis last week, 31-13, but they didn’t cover as 20.5-point home favorites. Cal got 158 passing yards and a score in the victory.

Tailback Jadyn Ott was the top rusher in the Pac-12 last year, but he only picked up 49 yards on 14 carries this week.

He did find the end zone twice. The Golden Bears picked up 281 yards of total offense while allowing 304. Auburn demolished Alabama A&M, 73-3, easily covering a 48.5-point spread.

Despite having the worst offense in the SEC last year, they look like they’ve figured a few things out. Quarterback Payton Thorne threw for 322 yards and four scores.

Tailback Jarquez Hunter only carried the ball four times, but he made the most of them, picking up 53 yards to average 13.3 yards per attempt.

They rolled up 628 yards of offense – but they did play an FCS program.

Given the prolific scoring that both teams can produce.

NCAAF Pick: Take the over.

Temple Owls (+13) at Navy Midshipmen (O/U 43)

Saturday, September 7, 3:30 pm ET

This AAC showdown also has a fairly low point total for a college football game. Navy opened with the Bucknell Bison and rolled, 49-21.

Temple spent Week 1 in Norman, Oklahoma, taking a 51-3 hide-tanning from the Sooners.

In the last three meetings between Navy and Temple, the games have gone over the point totals each time, and Navy has won by a combined score of 83-66.

This season, Navy seems to have moved on from the triple option at long last, moving to a hybrid form of the Wing-T offense.

They rumbled for 437 yards of offense and had three touchdown passes against Bucknell. Obviously, Temple represents an increase in opponent quality, but they should still be one of the easier AAC foes for the Midshipmen.

NCAAF Pick: Take the over.
