The shocking home loss by the Alabama Crimson Tide last week has already brought a major change, as quarterback Jalen Milroe is headed to the bench in favor of sophomore Tyler Buchner, who transferred in the spring from Notre Dame. Milroe had a clutch 49-yard touchdown pass in the 34-24 loss to Texas, but he also had a pair of interceptions. Buchner followed OC Tommy Rees to Alabama from Notre Dame, and Buchner also saw the field late in the Week 1 rout of Middle Tennessee, going 3 of 5 for 27 yards. He was the starter for Notre Dame before going down to injury in Week 2. He threw five touchdown passes in the Irish’s Gator Bowl win over South Carolina, but he also threw three interceptions, including a pick-six. Buchner will lead the Tide offense against South Florida, which should allow him to ease into the role. #3 Florida State Seminoles vs Boston College Golden Eagles
NCAAF Lines: #3 Florida State Seminoles (-28.5) at Boston College Golden Eagles (O/U 46)
When: Saturday, September 17, 2023, 12:00 pm ET
Where: Alumni Stadium (Chestnut Hill, MA), Chestnut Hill, MA
TV/Live Stream: ABC
Last week, Florida State routed BC, 44-14. BC has not impressed so far in 2023, losing at home to Northern Illinois and barely escaping FCS foe Holy Cross. Boston has not been an easy place for the Seminoles in recent years, though; the last two Florida State trips to BC have delivered Seminole wins – but by a combined 10 points. Given the lack of defense that BC has shown so far this year, Florida State could beat this point total by themselves. Take the over.

#7 Penn State Nittany Lions vs Illinois Fighting Illini
NCAAF Lines: #7 Penn State Nittany Lions (-16) at Illinois Fighting Illini (O/U 48.5)
When: Saturday, September 17, 2023, 12:00 pm ET
Where: Memorial Stadium (Champaign, IL), Champaign, IL
TV/Live Stream: FOX
Two years ago, the Illini beat Penn State by two in that notorious nine-overtime contest, so you know that Penn State has this date circled on the calendar. The Illinois rushing defense is porous, allowing 224 yards on the ground per game, good for 122nd place among FBS schools. Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen should both prosper, and Penn State should be able to score plenty of points. Take the over.

#14 LSU Tigers vs Mississippi State Bulldogs
NCAAF Lines: #14 LSU Tigers (-9) at Mississippi State Bulldogs (O/U 54)
When: Saturday, September 17, 2023, 12:00 pm ET
Where: Davis Wade Stadium, Starkville, MS
TV/Live Stream: ESPN
Zach Arnett has brought improvement to Starkville, but it’s hard to see State keeping up with Jayden Daniels, who threw five touchdown passes for LSU in Week 2. Daniels accounted for 303 all-purpose yards against Mississippi State a year ago. The LSU defense has shown a propensity to give up points, so while LSU should win easily, this won’t be a grinder. Take the over.

San Diego State Aztecs vs #16 Oregon State Beavers
NCAAF Lines: San Diego State Aztecs (+23.5) at #16 Oregon State Beavers (O/U 48)
When: Saturday, September 17, 2023, 3:30 pm ET
Where: Reser Stadium, Corvallis, OR
TV/Live Stream: FS1
Transferring west from Clemson seems to have paid off for Oregon State quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei so far. Through two games, he has thrown for 346 yards and five touchdowns without a pick. San Diego State has only scored 15 points per game against FBS opposition to this point; against UCLA, they could barely run the ball, and the Bruins aren’t known for a stout D. The Beavers are permitting two yards per carry so far this year. Will the Aztecs score at all? Take the under.

#8 Washington Huskies vs Michigan State Spartans
NCAAF Lines: #8 Washington Huskies (-16.5) at Michigan State Spartans (O/U 56)
When: Saturday, September 17, 2023, 5:00 pm ET
Where: Spartan Stadium, East Lansing, MI
TV/Live Stream: Peacock
Last year, Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr threw for 397 yards and four scores in a 39-28 win in Seattle. This week, Michigan State is dealing with the scandal surrounding head coach Mel Tucker, but the Spartans’ solid line play should be able to sustain drives and should be able to generate pressure on Penix. Expect Washington to put up some points, but expect a passionate response from the Spartans, and a game that slows as a result. Take the under.
