NCAAF Odds: Over/Under Picks for Week 9

NCAAF Odds: Over/Under Picks for Week 9

The Ohio State Buckeyes roll into Week 9 riding the momentum of their 20-12 home win over Penn State last week. Are they heading into a trap, though? Their next game involves a trip to Camp Randall, their first in seven years, in prime time. Wisconsin is a notoriously difficult road environment, particularly at night. Notre Dame is just one example of a team that has suffered a letdown the week after an emotionally grueling game, following up their near-upset of Ohio State with disappointing showings against Duke and Louisville. Washington pulled off a dramatic win over Oregon two weeks ago and then almost lost to lowly Arizona State in their next game. Wisconsin has a serviceable quarterback in Braedyn Locke and an exciting tailback in Braelon Allen, who ran for 165 yards on 23 attempts at Ohio stadium last year. He also ran for 145 yards and a touchdown in the Badgers’ 25-21 win over Illinois. The Badger defense only permits 18.3 points per game – and the spread right now is Ohio State -14.5. We’ve got this game in our College Football O/U Picks for Week 9 – read on to get our betting predictions.

Week 9 College Football O/U Picks

#21 Tennessee (-3.5) at Kentucky (O/U 51.5)
#5 Washington (-26.5) at Stanford (O/U 60)
#19 Air Force (-11.5) at Colorado State (O/U 48.5)
#3 Ohio State (-14.5) at Wisconsin (O/U 44)

#21 Tennessee Volunteers at Kentucky Wildcats

When: Saturday, October 28, 2023, 7:00 pm ET
Where: Kroger Field, Lexington, KY
TV/Live Stream: ESPN

Kentucky took losses against Georgia and Missouri before going into their bye week, and now they welcome Tennessee – who faltered on the road in conference play against Alabama and Florida. Tennessee rolled Kentucky last year at home, 44-6, and they also won the last time the two teams met in Kentucky, edging the Wildcats, 45-42, in 2021. The running defense that Tennessee has should be enough to keep this game from going in the Wildcats’ direction. Take the over.

#5 Washington Huskies at Stanford Cardinal

When: Saturday, October 28, 2023, 7:00 pm ET
Where: Stanford Stadium, Stanford, CA
TV/Live Stream: FS1

Washington’s offense looked all-world against Oregon, but then it looked very pedestrian against Arizona State. Expect Stanford to use the same approach that Arizona State used – a blitz-heavy attack against Michael Penix. Stanford lost to UCLA, Oregon and USC by a combined total of 117 points, but they also came back from a 29-0 deficit against Colorado to win, 46-43, in overtime. I do expect Washington to clean up their act and roll – and they might get close to this point total by themselves. Take the over.

#19 Air Force Falcons at Colorado State Rams

When: Saturday, October 28, 2023, 7:00 pm ET
Where: Canvas Stadium, Fort Collins, CO
TV/Live Stream: CBS Sports

The Falcons lead the nation in rushing, picking up 306 yards per game. Quarterback Zac Larrier played despite a knee injury last week, leading Air Force to their second straight cover as a double-digit favorite. They have a six-game winning streak against Colorado tate, but the Rams almost took down Colorado down in Boulder and split close games against Boise State and UNLV the last two weeks. The Rams are 4-1 against the spread as an underdog this year. With the slower pace that the Falcons’ offense forces, this game won’t be very high-scoring. Take the under.

#3 Ohio State Buckeyes at Wisconsin Badgers

When: Saturday, October 28, 2023, 7:30 pm ET
Where: Camp Randall Stadium, Madison, WI
TV/Live Stream: NBC

Braedyn Locke gets his second start for the Badgers after Tanner Mordecai went down with a broken bone in his throwing hand. He will get all the challenge he wants out of an Ohio State defense that permits 10 points per game. Locke did lead the Badgers to an 18-point fourth quarter to deliver the four-point win at Illinois, but Wisconsin’s defense has been stout too, holding every opponent except Washington State under 21 points. Ohio State is 3-1 against the spread in Big Ten play and will look to exploit a Wisconsin defense that has permitted over 200 rushing yards in two straight games. I think Ohio State grits out the win, but this has grindfest written all over it. Take the under.
