Heading into Week 4, we’re seeing something we haven’t seen since 2015 – the Alabama Crimson Tide ranked outside the AP Top 10. We’re also seeing something else unusual in Tuscaloosa: chaos at the quarterback position. Jalen Milroe played in Weeks 1 and 2, against Middle Tennessee and Texas, and he showed flashes of brilliance, including a 49-yard bomb against the Longhorns. However, he also threw a pair of picks that were crucial in the Alabama loss. Tyler Buchner and Ty Simpson played quarterback in Week 3 against South Florida, and it was disastrous. Buchner went 5 of 14 for 34 yards, and Simpson went 5 of 9 for 73 yards, but 45 of those came on one pass to C.J. Dippre. As a team, the Tide only managed 17 points against the lowly Bulls. Milroe gets the start again for Week 4 as Lane Kiffin brings the hungry Ole Miss Rebels to town. Will the Rebels deliver an upset at Bryant-Denny Stadium? Or will Alabama restore order in the SEC West? Read on to find our NCAAF betting preview for the game between #15 Ole Miss vs #13 Alabama.

Why should you bet on the Ole Miss Rebels?
Ole Miss has cruised to a 3-0 record this season; in Week 3, they took down the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 48-23. Quarterback Jaxson Dart has thrown for 852 yards and seven touchdowns (and a pick) through three games, and he also leads the team in rushing with 213 yards and has a pair of scores on the ground. Tailback Quinshon Judkins has added 145 yards and four scores through three games, and the top receiver is Jordan Watkins, with 15 catches for 290 yards. Tre Harris has four touchdown catches and 188 receiving yards, and Dayton Wade has picked up 215 receiving yards.
On defense, the top tackler is Trey Washington, with 20 total tackles. The team has picked up 10 sacks, with Isaac Ukwu leading the way with a pair. The Rebels have won 10 games in a row in September straight up, and they have covered the spread five times in their last six September contests. However, in their last three visits to Alabama, they have lost the first half each time. Is there a mental block when it comes to playing Alabama, or have the Tide rosters just been that much better?

Why should you put your money on the Alabama Crimson Tide?
Alabama is 2-1 so far on the young season, but their #13 ranking is based a lot more on their historical track record than their performance in 2023. Middle Tennessee didn’t cause any issues as the Tide rolled, 56-7, but that 17-3 performance against South Florida would have sent a lot of other teams tumbling out of the Top 25. Roydell Williams is the top tailback for the Tide with 177 yards in three games. Jase McClellan is right behind him with 158 yards on the ground. The top receivers are Isaiah Bond (10 catches, 152 yards) and Jermaine Burton (127 yards).
The Alabama defense is led by Deontae Lawson’s 25 total tackles, and he also has two sacks. Dallas Turner leads the squad with 2 ½ sacks, and the Tide as a team have eight sacks. Alabama comes in with an eight-game home winning streak against SEC competition, and they have won the first half in 11 straight SEC games at home.

Final Score and Prediction
The Alabama offense was able to move the ball in Weeks 1 and 2 with Milroe at the controls, but ball security became a problem against Texas. Ole Miss can also take advantage of turnover opportunities. My main question about the Rebels is whether they can get over the mental hurdle of beating Alabama on the road. I see this game coming down to the last possession – which means a line smaller than seven. I predict a final score of Alabama 30, Ole Miss 27.
