It’s been 10 years since the Oregon Ducks started a season with five straight wins. They have a Heisman Trophy candidate at quarterback in Bo Nix, but the most surprising change has been the defense. In 2022, the Ducks had a porous defense despite the fact that their new head coach, Dan Lanning, had built an ironclad defense as Georgia’s coordinator. In 2023, things have turned around significantly as the Ducks are in the top ten in total defense. The most eye-popping stat about the Ducks’ defense is the change between points permitted a year ago and this year. In 2022, the defense permitted 27.4 points per game; this year, that number has dropped to 11.8, good for fifth in the nation. The change from last year to this year – a drop of 15.6 points permitted per game – is fourth-best in the nation, behind just UCLA, Ohio University, and Oklahoma. Why should you bet on the Oregon Ducks?
Oregon already has two road wins so far this season, but a win at Husky Stadium would take their hype to the next level. Bo Nix has been clicking at quarterback, posting an 80.4% pass completion rate, with 15 touchdown passes against just one pick, and 1,459 receiving yards. His top two targets have been Gary Bryant Jr and Troy Franklin, who have combined for 762 receiving yards and nine scores. On the ground, the Ducks are running for 227.2 yards per game behind Bucky Irving, who has run for 393 yards and four scores. On defense, Tysheem Johnson is the top tackler with 30. Khyree Jackson has a pair of interceptions, and Jordan Burch has posted three sacks.
The Ducks have a 4-2 straight-up record in their last six games as underdogs against teams ranked in the top ten. In nine of their last ten Pac-12 games, Oregon has won the first half. However, the favorite has gone 21-3 ATS in the Ducks’ last 24 contests. The Ducks have a terrific offense and defense, as a national audience saw in their whipping of the Colorado Buffaloes, but it will be interesting to see how they approach the elite passing offense that Washington has put together.

Why should you put your money on the Washington Huskies?
A Washington win would make them 6-0 for the first time in six seasons. Michael Penix Jr has thrown for 16 touchdown passes and just two interceptions, completing 74.7% of his passes and picking up 1,999 yards through the air. Ja’Lynn Polk and Rome Odunze have combined for eight receiving touchdowns and 1,076 yards. On the ground, Dillon Johnson is the top gainer with 240 yards and four scores.
On defense, the Huskies aren’t as stout as the Ducks, but they are still holding opponents to a respectable 18.4 points per contest. Dominique Hampton is the tackle leader with 35, and Zion Tupuola-Fetui has posted a pair of sacks. Kamren Fabiculanan leads the defense with two picks. The Huskies roll in on a 12-game winning streak, and they have won the first half in seven of their last eight Pac-12 games. It is true that Washington is 1-10 against the spread in their last 11 October games as the favorite.

Oregon vs Washington Final Score and Prediction
The Huskies have a hard time running the ball, which means that Oregon should be able to force some third-and-long situations and gum up Washington drives. Also, the Washington pass defense is just 94th in the nation. Those two flaws give Oregon a pair of key advantages. I predict a final score of Oregon 34, Washington 23.
