It’s week five… and the rankings haven’t changed much at the top; it’s still Alabama, Ohio State, Louisville, Clemson, Michigan and Houston vs. everybody else in college football. Fortunately or unfortunately, two of these team—Louisville and Clemson—will be playing against each other this week, meaning we are guaranteed to have one drop-out from our current top-6. Below we will be taking a college football betting look at this Louisville at Clemson blockbuster showdown, complete with free college football week 5 expert picks for other top games of the coming week.

Top College Football Week 5 Expert Betting Picks

#7 Stanford at #10 Washington, Friday, September 30

Expert Pick: Washington (-3… SU and ATS) In a game that could very well decide the eventual winner of the Pac-12 conference, the Huskies and the Cardinal will be locking horns at the Nation’s capital this Friday. Spearheaded by sophomore QB Jake Browning 904 passing yards and 14 TDs against 2 picks this season) and an experienced group that returns several starters on both sides of the ball, the undefeated Huskies (4-0) have been silently climbing up the charts as one of the teams to watch this season. On the opposite end, the equally undefeated Cardinal (3-0) have been making a lot of noise in the Pac-12, as they look to repeat as conference champs. Obviously, Stanford has been in this position severally, so no one should question their potential to win at Washington. As a concern, though, Stanford’s offense has been far from convincing all season. This was evident last week when the Cardinal took more than 59 minutes and 30 seconds to find the end zone. In fact, had the Bruins not cracked in the final 24 seconds of the game by giving away two cheap touchdowns, Stanford would have easily lost that game. Against a Washington side that is balanced in offense and defense, our experts feel that the Huskies (7-0 SU and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games) will show class to take down the Christian McCaffrey-reliant Cardinal this Friday.

#3 Louisville at #5 Clemson, Saturday, October 1

Expert Pick: Louisville (+3… SU and ATS) After a slow start to the season, the Tigers have seemingly gone from lukewarm to hot, taking care of their last two opponents very handily. The Cardinals, meanwhile, have stayed consistently on-fire since Week 1 of 2016, or better yet since the second half of last season. This sets up a monumental ACC-deciding encounter when the two teams meet this Saturday. It’s hard not to like Clemson, given that Deshaun Watson is lethal dual-threat QB and Clemson’s defense has been on the upswing over the past two weeks. The problem, however, is that Louisville’s QB Lamar Jackson—the current 2016 Heisman Trophy frontrunner—is arguably a better version of Watson, both aerially and on his feet, no wonder the Cards rank top in the nation in points per game (63.5), third in rushing yards per game (318.3) and tenth in passing yards per game (363.8). And as an added advantage, Louisville’s defense has been equal to each task this season, constantly making plays on the D-line while offering sufficient protection to Jackson and his teammates in the O-line. Add Louisville’s motivation and experience from taking down Florida State two weeks ago, our experts say that the more battle-tested Cards look the part of pulling an upset over Clemson this week.

#9 Texas A&M at South Carolina, Saturday, October 1

Expert Pick: Texas A&M (-14… SU and ATS) The Aggies are one of the three SEC teams that are still unbeaten (the others being Alabama and Tennessee), and there is no fluke about them achieving this much so far. For one, quarterback Trevor Knight continues to vindicate his hefty transfer tag when he left Oklahoma, as his ability to make plays with his legs and arms confuses opposing defenses. For example, against Arkansas last week, Knight ran for two TDs and passed for two more scores, including a 92-yard bomb to wideout Josh Reynolds in a comprehensive 45-24 beat-down of the Razorbacks. With Knight staying solid, A&M’s SEC-leading rushing offense lighting it up (269.3 YPG rushing) and the Aggies surging defense (16.0 PPG allowed) chipping in handily; South Carolina won’t stand a winning chance this weekend. Coach Will Muschamp will have his defensive say for a little while, but once the Aggies kick into gear and South Carolina’s lacking offense (14.3 PPG scoring, ranked #127 out 129 teams in the nation) expectedly falls asleep; we should be in for an all-A&M clinic, leading to comfortable win and cover for the visitors.

Missouri at LSU, Saturday, October 1

Expert Pick: Missouri (+14… ATS Only) It almost sounds comical to think that LSU will be winning this game and doing so by more than two touchdowns. Interim coach Ed Orgeron, Les Miles replacement, promised that there will be some changes in LSU’s offense and having an All-world player like Leonard Fournette will definitely help his course. But last we checked, LSU still has a glaring problem at quarterback, and the defense isn’t formidable either. On the opposite end, Mizzou has arguably the best pocket-passing quarterback in the SEC in sophomore Drew Lock (1508 passing yards and 14 TDs against just 3 interceptions and 1 sack this season), a player who is guaranteed to have solid production against LSU’s defense that will probably be having a number of transitions this week. And as far as Mizzou’s defense is concerned, the 28-27 loss to Georgia two weeks ago marked the highest points allowed by Missouri’s D this season. In case you are wondering how that Mizzou D fared last week, it had a shutdown performance on Delaware State, a game the Tigers won 79-0. You can talk all you want about Delaware being a small team, but you can’t deny the impressiveness of scoreline and how it speaks of Mizzou’s improving dominance. So, while experts are in agreement that the coaching change MAY do LSU some this week, they are strongly convinced that LSU will not be winning by 14-plus points, going by what they have seen from these two teams this season. Heck, if the hosting Tigers are not careful, they may end up receiving an outright upset from Lock and the visiting Tigers.
