Top SU Picks for NFL Week 6

Top SU Picks for NFL Week 6

Written by on October 6, 2020

If there’s any consistency in the 2020 college football season, it’s inconsistency. The LSU Tigers, defending national champions, lose at home to Mississippi State in their season opener. Then, Mississippi State heads home to face Arkansas the next week — an Arkansas team that had lost 20 straight SEC games — and gets upset at home. The Houston Cougars STILL haven’t played a game yet, although their Thursday opener against Tulane seems safe — for now.

If you are willing to hazard some cash on college football, we have some straight up sports betting picks for the coming week.

Top SU Picks for Week 6
of the College Football Season

Tulane (+6.5) at Houston

Thursday, October 8

Tulane almost lost to South Alabama in their opener and did lose to Navy the next week — a Navy team that has been getting demolished by everyone else. Then they went to Southern Mississippi and won by 42. What will they do against Houston? That offense seems on the scary side, so I’m taking

Louisville (-4.5) at Georgia Tech

Friday, October 9

Both teams come in at 1-2. Georgia Tech likes to run that triple option, an offense that slows down the game and makes life miserable for the opposition. I see the Cardinals getting frustrated and losing.
Georgia Tech to win. | Check the Odds

Virginia Tech (+5.5) at North Carolina

Saturday, October 10

North Carolina took Boston College to the woodshed last week, while Virginia Tech has had some extended time off due to COVID-19. I see the Tar Heels coming out just a little sharper.

Texas (+1.5) vs Oklahoma

(at the Cotton Bowl, Dallas)
Saturday, October 10

The Red River Showdown features both Texas and Oklahoma outside the top 20, an unusual position for two of college football’s blue blood programs. Oklahoma has a losing streak for the first time since 1999. Even so, I see the Sooners pulling the game out late.
Oklahoma to win. | Check the Odds

South Carolina (-13) at Vanderbilt

Saturday, October 10

South Carolina had to open against Tennessee and Florida, losing narrowly to the Volunteers and getting trucked by the Gators. Now things get a little more manageable — although Vandy held Texas A&M to just 17 points on the road.
Gamecocks to win. | Check the Odds

Tennessee (+13) at Georgia

Saturday, October 10

Georgia’s defense held Auburn under control in their game last week. Tennessee has looked solid in their first two games, but I don’t see them breaking through that Bulldog defense enough to win.
Georgia to win. | Check the Odds

Texas Tech (+12.5) at Iowa State

Saturday, October 10

This normally would be the game that Texas Tech sneaks in and wins, but Iowa State is playing too well at home.
Cyclones to win. | Check the Odds

Arkansas (+16.5) at Auburn

Saturday, October 10

The Razorbacks did sneak up on Mississippi State and won, but don’t think that Auburn didn’t see the film and see how the Razorbacks gummed up that Air Raid offense. Auburn has some frustrations to work out after getting smothered by Georgia last week.
Auburn to win. | Check the Odds

Kansas State (+8) at TCU

Saturday, October 10

TCU has lost at home to Iowa State by three and beaten Texas on the road by two. Kansas State lost a ridiculous game to Arkansas State in their opener but has followed that up with a three-point win at Oklahoma and a ten-point win over Texas Tech. So why is TCU an eight-point favorite again?
K-State to win. | Check the Odds

Alabama (-24) at Ole Miss

Saturday, October 10

Lane Kiffin’s new team barely held off Kentucky in overtime; let’s just say the Ole Miss defense is still a work in progress.
Crimson Tide to win. | Check the Odds

Temple (-3) at Navy

Saturday, October 10

Navy is dreadful; Temple is playing in their opener. Which do you think will matter more?
Navy to win. | Check the Odds

Miami (FL) (+14) at Clemson

Saturday, October 10

Both teams come in with 3-0 records, but Clemson is the team that seems headed to the College Football Playoff.
