We’ve been reading a lot about Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr, as the Huskies’ signal-caller has been putting up tremendous passing numbers this year. Tailback Dillon Johnson was the big hero against USC last week, though, as he put up career bests in yards (256 of the team’s 572 offensive yards) and touchdowns (4). It helped that USC’s rushing defense is about as stout as a paper sack in a rainstorm, because Washington’s defense had no real answers for USC’s offense until late, when a 42-42 tie turned into a 52-42 Huskies win. If the Huskies win out, they will get a spot in the College Football Playoff, because that would likely require yet another win over Oregon in the Pac-12 title game, as well as a win over visiting #18 Utah this weekend. We have your NCAAF betting prediction right here for the Utah vs Washington.

Why should you bet on the #18 Utah Utes?
Utah bounced back from their loss to Oregon by taking Arizona State to the woodshed last week, rolling to a 55-3 rout. Bryson Barnes continues to get the job done on offense, with an 8:5 TD:INT ratio and 930 passing yards. The running game has Ja’Quinden Jackson and Jaylon Glover combining for 957 yards on the ground, and Devaughn Vele, Money Parks, and Mikey Matthews all have at least 200 receiving yards.
It’s the defense that talks loudest in Salt Lake City, and Jonah Elliss has been an absolute terror for opposing quarterbacks, posting 11 ½ sacks through nine games. Levani Damuni leads the Utes with just 49 total tackles, which tells you how the unit spreads around the stops. If you like the Utes, you see their defense succeeding like it did against USC and just about everyone they’ve faced – except for Oregon.

Why should you put your money on the #5 Washington Huskies?
Michael Penix Jr has passing numbers that rival those of USC’s Caleb Williams and Oregon’s Bo Nix. Penix has 3,201 passing yards, 26 touchdowns (against seven picks), and a 69.4% pass completion rate. Dillon Johnson picked up more than a third of his season’s rushing yardage total (686) in last week’s win, and he has scored 10 touchdowns. Among the wide receivers, Rome Odunze and Ja’Lynn Polk have combined to catch 107 passes for 1,877 yards and 15 touchdowns.
The Washington defense has been stout behind 64 total tackles from Dominique Hampton. The pass rush has not been all that intense, but Zion Tupuola-Fetui leads the team with 3 ½ sacks. The Huskies bring in a 16-game winning streak, and seven of their last eight home games against top-15 teams have gone over the point total, which suggests the possibility of another track meet. Utah’s defense could not stop Oregon in a 35-6 loss on October 28, but if you look at how Washington struggled on defense against USC, you do have to wonder if the Huskies will have answers for Utah.

Utah vs Washington Final Score and Prediction
Washington and Oregon are at a higher level than Utah right now because they have elite quarterbacks, while Utah has a patchwork solution. It will be interesting to see if Cam Rising returns next year for the Utes and how well he plays in the Big 12, but for now, the challenge is for Utah to sustain drives against the #5 team in the nation. I predict a final score of Washington 30, Utah 13.
