NAVY (-13.5) over Tulane
Navy opens their American Athletic Conference schedule with a home date against traditional doormat Tulane. The Midshipmen opened with a trip down to sunny Florida to take on Florida Atlantic University, in a lightning-delayed tilt that spoiled Lane Kiffin’s debut at the helm of the Owls. Navy used their offensive juggernaut to roll to a 42-19 win, dominating with both the run and the pass. Tulane also picked up a big win in Week 1, but their victims were the Grambling State Tigers, an FCS program that is well below FAU in terms of overall competitiveness. Tulane came away with a 43-14 win, but Navy brings a much more potent offense and a much quicker defense. The Midshipmen look to return to the top of the AAC, and I see them winning and covering at home against the Green Wave.College Football Week 2 Betting Trends
- Tulane is 2-6 SU in the last 8 games
- Tulane is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 games on the road
- Navy is 4-2 ATS in the last 6 games
- Navy is 17-6 SU in the last 23 games
- The total went OVER in 7 of Navy’s last 10 games at home
San Jose State (+28.5) over TEXAS
San Jose State (1-1) took on a team in Week Zero in South Florida that might be better than the Texas Longhorns are right now. The Bulls rolled to a 42-22 win over the Spartans in that opener. Then, the Spartans welcomed Cal Poly at home in Week One and took a 34-13 victory. The Bulls and the Longhorns both have a dynamic offense — Shane Buechele of Texas has a terrific arm and is also mobile, perhaps not as fast as Quintin Flowers of South Florida, but probably a little more accurate with his arm. The Texas defense simply could not get a stop against Maryland — which is why even though the Longhorn offense mounted a terrific comeback, they could not finish the job against the Terrapins, because the defense kept letting Maryland into the end zone. San Jose State can score, and the Longhorns paid less attention to detail on defense than South Florida did against San Jose State — and the Spartans still put up 22 points. So while I don’t see San Jose State sending the Longhorns to 0-2, I also don’t see the Longhorns winning by four touchdowns. Give me the Spartans to cover here.College Football Week 2 Betting Trends

South Carolina (+2.5) over MISSOURI
The Missouri Tigers ran absolute roughshod over in-state foe Missouri State in Week One, rolling up a 72-43 rout. That game involved school and conference records for passing touchdowns, as the Tigers clearly outmatched the Bears. The warning sign for me from this game is the number 43 — as in the number of points that Missouri State was able to pile up against an FBS opponent. While Missouri might have been way too fast for the Bears’ defense, they didn’t really do that great a job slowing the opposition down — they just won a track meet. What did South Carolina do last week? They also went outside the conference, but instead of finding a cupcake, they took on North Carolina State, a middling team in the ACC. South Carolina went on the road and won a 35-28 decision that featured a bizarre finish. That sort of victory builds momentum and mental toughness. South Carolina styles themselves as a contender in the SEC East, while Missouri will fight with Kentucky over the bottom rung of the division. I see the Gamecocks going to Missouri and covering this spread with ease.College Football Week 2 Betting Trends
