Buffalo Bills First Half of the Season

I see the Bills heading into that Week 4 matchup with New England at 3-0. The Jets are a tough opener on the road, but the chaos in their front office could translate to difficulty getting things up and running. Bell and C.J. Mosley are the shiny, new free agents, but I see Allen outgunning Sam Darnold and leading the Bills to a win. Then they go back to East Rutherford the next week to take on a Giants team that still has Saquon Barkley but squandered the sixth overall pick on Duke quarterback Daniel Jones. You can get understudies for Eli Manning much later in the draft, or even in free agency. I like the Bills to win that one — and then to beat Cincinnati at home. After losing to the Patriots, I see the Bills eking out another close game in Tennessee, going into the bye 4-1. Then I see them beating Miami and splitting their two games with the Eagles and Redskins to make it to the halfway mark at 6-2. That’s already well on their way to the line.

Buffalo Bills Second Half of the Season

In the second half, the most winnable games come against Denver, Baltimore and again with the Jets at home, so a double-digit win season and a playoff berth are well within the realm of possibility. An intriguing game comes in Dallas on Thanksgiving Day. The Cowboys are inconsistent in this traditional holiday game when strange things end up happening in Big D. Cole Beasley will be looking for payback against a Dallas team that, in his opinion, didn’t value him adequately. There’s also a game in Pittsburgh in Week 15; if the Steelers are struggling and have fallen to, say, 5-9 or 6-8 at that point, that could turn into a Buffalo win too. This set of scenarios makes that 6 ½-game total look way off base. Give me the over. What about the playoffs? Buffalo could be aiming for a wild card spot when they play the Jets in the season finale. Can you imagine the number of portable tables that will get broken in the New Era Field parking lot if the Bills clinch a postseason berth at home?
