Now that the NFL has released the full schedule for the 2021 regular season, it’s time to take a look at the best and worst matchups for the coming year. Each year, there are some heavily anticipated matchups, like the pair of divisional matchups between the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a year ago, pitting two legends at quarterback — Drew Brees for the Saints and Tom Brady for the Bucs. Each year, there are also some games that end up drawing, shall we say, very little sports betting or fan interest.
Let’s take a look at some of the best and the worst NFL Betting for this autumn.
NFL News: Best and Worst Games on the 2021 Schedule
Best: Dallas Cowboys (+6.5) at Tampa Buccaneers
Thursday, September 9, 8:20 pm ET, NBC
The return of Dak Prescott to the Dallas lineup gives Cowboys fans hope. After all, it’s time for Jerry Jones to wander up to a group of reporters and talk about why this is the year the Cowboys will win a championship. Meanwhile, the team has not made a conference championship in 25 years. Did Dallas ink Prescott to a huge deal? Yes. Did the Cowboys draft some talented players to fill holes on the worst defense in the league last year — and the worst in the history of the franchise? Yes. However, Tampa Bay returns all of their starters, which means that their offense will be high-octane, so that Dallas defense will get an early test on national television.
Worst: Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions
Thursday, November 25, 1:30 pm ET, FOX
Detroit and Dallas are the two teams that traditionally host Thanksgiving Day games. However, this has not helped the Lions much in recent years, as they have lost four straight games on Thanksgiving, and Chicago has been the team to beat them in three of those games. Injuries at quarterback have been the real problem, causing such situations as the debut of David Blough at that position in 2019. Matthew Stafford is now in Los Angeles, though, so Jared Goff will be minding the store…against Dwayne Haskins? This could be an even uglier Thanksgiving matinee than usual.
Best: Kansas City Chiefs at Baltimore Ravens
Sunday, December 19, 8:20 pm ET, NBC
The Chiefs filled some of their main gaps in the roster, adding two top-shelf starters to an offensive line that had both tackles out for the Super Bowl, which played a major role in their ugly loss to Tampa Bay. They also bolstered their defense, but when they head to Baltimore, they will face a Ravens team that should have plenty of motivation after a pair of postseason disappointments. Baltimore is still a run-first team, which means they play better with a lead, but expect their defense to come out ready to trade punches in prime time.
Worst: Indianapolis Colts at Arizona Cardinals
Saturday, December 25, 8:15 pm ET, NFL Network
So, the NFL Network is hopeful that there will be enough people who do not have anything to do on Christmas night to tune in…and who have the NFL Network in their streaming package. By now, I predict that Carson Wentz will have irritated yet another fan base with a season of poor decisions and panicked interceptions. The Cardinals could be well on their way to an NFC West title, if not a wild card, with J.J. Watt having headed west to join fellow former Houston Texan DeAndre Hopkins in the desert. With another year under his belt, Kyler Murray will be able to use his gifts to an even higher level, and this game could easily be over by halftime, if not earlier.
