The Los Angeles Chargers (5-5) are really just two late interceptions away from being 7-3, as the Kansas City Chiefs have won both matchups this year thanks to a pick in the waning moments of the fourth quarter. The most recent meeting took place last week, and Justin Herbert put up terrific numbers, going 23 of 30 for 280 yards and two scores – and that late interception, off a double carom. Next up is a trip to the desert to take on the Arizona Cardinals (4-7), who have gone 1-1 in the last two games with Colt McCoy starting at quarterback in place of the injured Kyler Murray. Murray expects to start on Sunday, but he remains questionable. We have your NFL betting preview of this showdown between two young, exciting quarterbacks.

Why should you bet on the Chargers?
The Chargers led Kansas City, 20-16, going into the fourth quarter, but then Patrick Mahomes turned up the offensive intensity, and the Chiefs won the battle of the final period, 14-7. Austin Ekeler ran for 83 yards and a touchdown, and the Chargers had a promising drive going near the end of regulation before they turned the ball over.
Ekeler’s contributions to the Chargers’ offense have been invaluable this year. Getting the ability to move to second- and third-and-short has taken a lot of the pressure off Herbert. The Chargers have covered in five of their last seven games overall and in five of their last six games coming after a straight-up loss. If you like the Chargers, you like that combination of offensive and defensive energy against a Cardinals team that has struggled to find consistency all season.
Why should you put your money on the Cardinals?
Kyler Murray’s return will bring more dynamic energy to the offense, which has also benefited from the return of DeAndre Hopkins from suspension. Murray has a 66.7% pass completion rate on the season, a 12:6 TD:INT ratio, and 359 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground.
Last week, the Cardinals went into halftime down just by a touchdown in their matchup with San Francisco in Mexico City, but the 49ers put up 21 unanswered points in the second half to turn the game into a laugher. Colt McCoy threw for 218 yards but did not find the end zone and threw a costly interception. James Conner picked up just 42 yards on 14 carries, as the Cardinals had a difficult time establishing either phase of the offense, especially after halftime.
Final Score and Prediction
It has been a tough season for Murray and the Arizona Cardinals, and I don’t expect things to get easier for them during this visit from the Chargers. The Chargers had a lot of things going for them in Kansas City, and if they can keep that vibe going on both sides of the ball, they should get a big win in Phoenix. I predict a final score of Los Angeles 30, Arizona 20.
