The Washington Commanders (4-7) looked like they might threaten Philadelphia and Dallas in the NFC East. They played the Eagles close in both of their regular-season matchups, and quarterback Sam Howell looked like the real deal. However, at the trade deadline, the Commanders dealt away both Chase Young and Montez Sweat, relying on their young depth to carry their front seven. The team heard the message from the front office, and the latest embarrassment came this past week as the New York Giants got three touchdown passes out of third-string quarterback Tommy DeVito and used six Washington turnovers to roll, 31-19. Next up for Washington is a visit to Dallas to take on the Cowboys (7-3), who return home riding the momentum of a 33-10 beating of the Carolina Panthers this week. Why should you bet on the Washington Commanders?
It’s hard for the Commanders to sink much lower than they did last week, losing to the Giants for the second time this season. The Commanders started 2-0 but have gone 2-7 since. Sam Howell went 31 of 45 for 255 yards, but the three interceptions gave the Giants too many short fields and made a comeback impossible.
The Washington defense put up some gaudy numbers, sacking Tommy DeVito nine times during the game and holding the Giants without any rushing yards during the first half. The fact that the Commanders fell apart in the second half has brought calls in Washington for team management to replace head coach Ron Rivera with offensive coordinator Eric Bienimy. It is dangerous to underestimate a team when it has been beaten down like this in the press, as they will tend to gather themselves and rebound, but it’s hard to see the Commanders pushing the Cowboys at this point.

Why should you put your money on the Dallas Cowboys?
Cornerback Daron Bland had his fourth pick-six this season in the fourth quarter against the Panthers, as the Cowboys turned a 17-10 lead after three quarters into a 33-10 win. The Panthers were able to show that if you use a vertical running game and play-action in the pocket, it is possible to beat them with some hot-route slants and outs and a possession offense. However, the Panthers’ defense was unable to slow down the Dallas attack enough for their offense to get a lead.
The Cowboys have put up 33.6 points per game over their last five contests, and quarterback Dak Prescott continues to add to an MVP resume with three games in a row in which he threw for at least 300 yards and three touchdown passes. Tony Pollard continued to struggle overall in the running game, but he did run for a hard touchdown that made highlight reels all over the country. The defense sacked Bryce Young nine times, and this unit is second in the league in total defense and in preventing third-down conversions.

Commanders vs Cowboys Final Score and Prediction in the Thanksgiving Day
Coming home on a short week means short rest and short preparation for the Cowboys. They will need a simple plan to get after Sam Howell and the Washington offense, and they will also need a plan to slow down that Washington pass rush. The Commanders are dead last in the NFL in points permitted per game as a defense, and Dallas can put up points in bunches. Even so, I see Washington keeping this divisional game closer than we think and that Washington pass rush frustrating Prescott and forcing multiple turnovers. I predict a final score of Dallas 27, Washington 23.
