Did you know that, in Dallas, there are people thinking the Cowboys could make it to the Super Bowl? One thing that you should understand about Cowboys fans is that they always expect their team to win, even though we’re entering the 25th season since Dallas even appeared in a conference championship game, let alone a Super Bowl. Dallas had a cake walk handed to them through the NFC East last year but somehow turned a 3-0 start into a 9-7 pig’s breakfast, losing the division to the injury-plagued Philadelphia Eagles. So if you saw how high Dallas is on the Super Bowl odds list, I wouldn’t bet the kids’ college fund for NFL betting to see Jerry Jones hoist the Lombardi Trophy at the end of this season. Let’s take a look at the upcoming Dallas season — these thoughts assume that Dallas will sign quarterback Dak Prescott, or at least get him to sign the franchise tag.
NFL Betting: Dallas Cowboys 2020 Schedule Analysis
Week 1: at L.A. Rams
The last time these two teams played, Dallas got run out of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum by the Rams in a divisional playoff game. Now they are set to meet in the opening of SoFi Stadium. The Rams have downgraded severely on both sides of the ball, almost entering a rebuilding mode. Dallas has a high-flying offense and should have enough defense to weather this storm. Prediction: Win
Week 2: vs Atlanta
The Falcons have seen their pass rush erode via free agency, which means that the Dallas offense should move up and down the field with ease, now that Mike McCarthy’s in town. Prediction: Win
Week 3: at Seattle
Seattle has the toughest defense that the Cowboys will face this year. However, the Seahawks’ running game is so much in flux that the team is thinking about getting Marshawn Lynch off the couch again. Prediction: Win
Week 4: vs Cleveland
Cleveland’s high-flying offense (thanks to the upgrades on the O-line) comes to town and engages the Cowboys in a barnburner, but Dak leads the team on a game-winning drive. Prediction: Win
Week 5: vs N.Y. Giants
Jason Garrett will face his former team as the Giants’ offensive coordinator. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have the tools to do much damage this time. Prediction: Win
Week 6: vs Arizona
A Cowboys team that has gotten a little too proud of itself see its duct-tape defense picked apart by Kyler Murray. Prediction: Loss
Week 7: at Washington
The Redskins have defensive standout Chase Young out of the 2020 draft, and Dwayne Haskins showed promise down the stretch at quarterback. However, Washington is still at least a year away from being a real challenge for Dallas. Prediction: Win
Week 8: at Philadelphia
Philadelphia added speed to their wide receiving corps, and Carson Wentz should stay healthy this year. The Dallas defense comes up empty once again in a road loss. Prediction: Loss
Week 9: vs Pittsburgh
It will be interesting to see if Big Ben is still healthy at this point in the season; if he is, expect a spirited fight from the Pittsburgh offense. However, the defense is the better unit for the Steelers right now, and I’m not sure they can hold the Dallas offense. Prediction: Win
Week 10: Bye
Week 11: at Minnesota
Remember those holes in the Dallas secondary? They’re still there, and Kirk Cousins will find them. Prediction: Loss
Week 12: vs Washington
Will the Redskins be tanking for Trevor Lawrence by this point? Weird things happen in Thanksgiving games, but Dallas should rebound from their humiliating loss to Buffalo a year ago. Prediction: Win
Week 13: at Baltimore
The Ravens’ offense will be too much for Dallas to handle, although this game will likely come down to the last drive. Prediction: Loss
Week 14: at Cincinnati
This is another potential trap game for Dallas, much like their Week 4 loss to the Jets last year. Joe Burrow will do some damage against the Dallas defense, but the Cowboys should rack up a win against a rebuilding Bengal team. Prediction: Win
Week 15: vs San Francisco
The 49ers have a bruising defense, but their offense will be the question. I see Jimmy G finding a lot of open receivers against that Dallas secondary. Prediction: Loss
Week 16: vs Philadelphia
Once again, the division comes down to the Birds and the Cowboys. This time, though, Dallas has their game in order and delivers the win. Prediction: Win
Week 17: at N.Y. Giants
If the win in Week 16 clinched the division, then I expect to see some starters rest here, unless the bye is still in play. Even so, the Cowboys have the talent to put down a Giants team that may also be tanking by this point. Prediction: Win
Season Record Prediction: 11-5
