Dallas at NY Giants Week 14 Spread & Betting Pick

Written by on December 7, 2016

The MetLife Stadium will be the center of focus Sunday Night as the crop of NFL’s best talents gather on the field for what promises to be a cracker of game between the hosts, the New York Giants, and the visiting Dallas Cowboys. In Week 13, the Cowboys—thanks to their win over the Minnesota Vikings and Washington’s Sunday loss to Arizona—became the first team in the NFL this season to clinch a playoff spot. With a win over the Giants this Sunday, Jerry Jones’ boys could become the first team to clinch a division title this season. The Giants, meanwhile, saw their six-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, but the G-Men are still in hot contention for the postseason and an outside bid for NFC East title if they can upset the Cowboys this Sunday. Here is an NFL betting preview of this massive primetime Week 14 NFL showdown.

Dallas at NY Giants Week 14 Spread & Betting Pick

Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey When: Sunday, December 11, 8:30 PM ET TV: NBC Radio: Dallas / New York Live Stream: NFL Live NFL Lines: Dallas (-3), OVER/UNDER 47.5

Why Bet on the Cowboys?

Streaking on franchise-best 11 straight wins since falling oh-so- close to the Giants in Week 1 and boasting of a flawless 6-0 SU road record to go with a 5-1 ATS mark this season, the Cowboys are undeniably in their best shape ever to beat the Giants this Sunday. And it isn’t just about their current streak or the fact that the Cowboys are 4-2 SU in their last 6 road games against the Giants, it’s that the Cowboys are playing amazing football with great confidence, and that’s what makes them very dangerous. Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliot and Dez Bryant have settled into their roles perfectly and are playing way better and more efficiently than they did when they met the Giants in Week 1. The Dallas O-line, meanwhile, continues to perform at high level, while the D-line is equally playing its part with timely stops and crucial forced turnovers. Simply put, the Cowboys really look complete. Even so, Dallas will be sternly tested against NY’s defense that has shown plenty of improvements this season and is actually the reason the Yorkers are 8-4 and having a strong chase for the playoffs. The Cowboys, particularly the trio of Prescott, Elliot and Bryant, must therefore keep their heads above their fever-pitch hype, or else an upset could be in the offing from the hungry and deadly Giants.

Why Bet on the NY Giants?

Some may call it lucky, but the Giants did beat the Cowboys in a one-point victory in Week 1 at the AT&T Stadium, and that should count for a lot of value, taking into account that no team has beaten Dallas since then. Eli Manning carried the team on his arms with three touchdowns in that Week 1 victory and, with New York ranking poorly at No. 31 in the league in both rushing and time of possession against a Dallas D that is good at stopping the run, the Giants will be looking to Manning to produce the goods once again. And fortunately for Manning, he has some of the best passing tools in the game, led by big-game receiver Odell Beckham Jr. and the athletic duo of Victor Cruz and Sterling Shepard. It should also help NY’s cause that the Cowboys have been lenient in defending the pass, giving up a staggering 276.67 passing yards per game. On the other side of the ball, Defensive Player of the Year candidate Landon Collins should continue to pace the Giants’ solid secondary that has been a key reason behind NY’s strong winning form over the past seven weeks. And with a chance to knock off the Cowboys off their high horse and boost NY’s chances at making the playoffs, motivation shouldn’t be an issue for the Giants, who are 5-1 SU in their last 6 home games and have gone a splendid 8-4 ATS in their last 12 home games against Dallas.

NFL Betting Predictions and Picks

Needless to say, the Cowboys have been virtually unstoppable this season and it will take an error-free and committed performance from start to finish from the G-Men if they are to win this game. And with Manning playing rather inconsistently over the past two weeks where he’s failed to reach 200 passing yards, it’s difficult to imagine that he’ll be having a clean performance against the vendetta-minded Cowboys. Add to the non-existent running game in New York, this game looks more likely to be won by Dallas than the Giants, especially with the way the Cowboys offense has been hellishly efficient in making necessary plays even against the toughest of defenses (like Minnesota last week). As such, we are inclined to go with Dallas for the road win and points. And as far as the game total is concerned, we expect Manning and his receivers to take advantage of Dallas’ questionable passing D while Prescott and gang do their thing as usual, leading to a potentially high-scoring game that will take the total OVER. Final Score Prediction: Dallas 31, NY Giants 27 Writer’s NFL Picks: Dallas (-3), OVER 47.5
