Eagles vs Lions Thanksgiving NFL Betting Game Preview

Written by on November 24, 2015

There is nothing quite like a day off from work, unless of course you are talking about Thanksgiving, as that also means having NFL betting to watch all day long. As always, the Detroit Lions will feature in one of the games, and they will have the Philadelphia Eagles coming to town for what should be a very interesting game with potential playoff implications.

NFL Betting Odds and Game Preview: Eagles vs Lions

Date: Thursday, November 26 Time: 12:30pm Venue: Ford Field Watch Online Here It has not been a very good year for the Detroit Lions (3-7), but they have been putting things together over the past couple of weeks. The problem for Detroit right now is that they pretty much have to be perfect the rest of the way if they hope to be in the postseason. A big part of the reason for the demise of the Lions this season has been the drop off in the numbers delivered by the Stafford to Johnson numbers. Hard as it may be to believe, Calvin Johnson has only gone over the 100 yard receiving mark once this season, which just happened to come in their first win of the season, with Megatron putting up 188 yards of offense in a 37-34 OT win over the Chicago Bears. It’s not fair to lay all the blame there, though, as the Lions are dead last in rushing, and have a defense that is giving up an average of 27.4 PPG.Being unable to establish the run game has allowed opponents to focus much of their attention on shutting down Johnson, which they have done to great effect. The Lions are coming into this one with back to back wins under their belts, and have a remaining schedule that looks pretty favorable. Chip Kelly's offseason changes had many of us not knowing what to expect from the Philadelphia Eagles. We didn’t really know what to expect from the Philadelphia Eagles (4-6) this season, especially given all the changes that Chip Kelly made in the offseason. That uncertainty starts at the QB position, where Sam Bradford looked to be struggling to run the high-speed offense that Kelly has in place. Bradford went down with an injury in a loss to the Miami Dolphins in a game where backup QB threw an end zone pick in the dying seconds to confirm the loss. Sanchez has thrown 4 INT’s already this season, and when you combine that with what Bradford has delivered, you have a QB duo that has thrown more interceptions than TD’s this season, which is not what anyone would call a winning formula. The NFC East is down this year, which means the Eagles are still very much in the hunt to win it.

What Should You Consider Before Placing Your Bets?

These are a pair of teams that are just not very good at the moment, but Philadelphia’s ability to run the ball effectively may well be the difference here. I like the Eagles to win by 6.
