Falcons at Vikings Odds | The 10-2 Minnesota Vikings welcome the 6-6 Atlanta Falcons (along with former starting quarterback Kirk Cousins) to U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon for a showdown with a lot of playoff implications.
In fact, if the season ended today, they would meet in the first round. The Vikings hold the fifth seed in the NFC playoffs – the best wild-card spot – while the Falcons hold the fourth seed because they’re clinging to the lead in the NFC South by virtue of the tiebreaker they hold over Tampa Bay.
The Buccaneers are also 6-6, but the Falcons have beaten them twice. Minnesota can clinch a playoff spot if they beat Atlanta and one of several series of events takes place: Seattle and Arizona tie; Seattle beats Arizona and Buffalo either beats or ties the Rams.
The teams could tie, and the Vikings would still clinch a playoff spot if: Tampa Bay loses to Las Vegas, Seattle beats Arizona and Buffalo beats the Rams; or if Las Vegas beats Tampa Bay, Seattle and Arizona tie, Buffalo beats the Rams, and Philadelphia beats or ties Carolina.
If Detroit loses to Green Bay on Thursday night, then the Vikings have an opening to vie for the NFC North title, a first-round bye in the playoffs, and home-field advantage all the way until the Super Bowl.
A loss wouldn’t eliminate the Falcons from the playoffs, but they are in a tailspin right now, particularly on offense, as Kirk Cousins has thrown six picks without a touchdown pass over the last three games. Don’t miss our sports betting prediction on this key NFC matchup.

Atlanta Falcons +210
The Falcons’ defense shut down the L.A. Chargers last week, but the Falcons only got 13 points themselves. Why? Kirk Cousins did throw for 245 yards, but those four interceptions were costly.
If the Falcons can’t get by Minnesota this week – particularly if Cousins struggles as badly – you will likely hear calls to promote Michael Penix Jr, the rookie quarterback who led Washington to the national championship game last season. On offense, the Falcons still score 21.4 points per game (19th overall), while the defense permits 24.3 points per game (22nd).
^Minnesota Vikings -250
At this point, the Vikings just keep reeling off wins, and wins are what matter right now. They faced Arizona last week, and they were able to sneak away with a 23-22 win. Sam Darnold went 21 of 31 for 235 yards and two scores, but the running game struggled. Aaron Jones fumbled the ball away a couple of times, ending promising drives. Justin Jefferson did have a nice day with seven receptions for 99 yards. On the year, the Vikings are scoring 24.8 points per game while just permitting 18.3.
The Vikings have won seven of their last eight games against NFC foes, entering on a losing streak. December has not been kind to the Falcons, as they have gone 0-4 on the road against conference teams. They are also 0-4 against the spread in their last four Sunday contests as underdogs. In three of their last four home games after a win, the Vikings have won the first quarter.
^Falcons at Vikings Odds Final Score and Prediction in Week 14
The Vikings’ defense has an elite pass rush and will get after Cousins – not known to be a mobile quarterback. Sam Darnold has figured out how to play quarterback at the pro level and will find open receivers down the field. Expect the Vikings to put the hammer down from the start and take advantage of a Falcons team that is starting to take on water.
I predict a final score of Minnesota 31, Atlanta 20.
