NFL Betting: Kansas City Chiefs 2020 Schedule Analysis

Fifteen years have gone by since the last time an NFL team won back-to-back Super Bowls, as the New England Patriots won Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX. Seven teams have pulled off two straight wins — and the Pittsburgh Steelers have accomplished that feat two times. Now the Kansas City Chiefs enter the 2020 campaign looking to become the next team to repeat, after ending a fifty-year title drought for Chiefs fans. Patrick Mahomes II returns at quarterback, and the team has improved its talent on both sides of the ball. For NFL betting enthusiasts, let’s take a look at the Chiefs’ prospects each week this season.

Kansas City Chiefs 2020 Schedule Analysis

Week 1: vs Houston

Kansas City hung 51 points on the Texans last year in the divisional playoff round. That made Houston the first team to lead by double digits in a playoff game…and then lose that game by at least 20 points. The Texans’ roster has regressed since then. Prediction: Win

Week 2: at L.A. Chargers

So this would be a duel between Patrick Mahomes and…Tyrod Taylor? Or Justin Herbert? Prediction: Win

Week 3: at Baltimore

This game really boils down to the first quarter. The Chiefs got into a habit of starting slow and needing to come back, and that just doesn’t work against the Ravens. Prediction: Loss

Week 4: vs New England

After that loss in Baltimore, the Chiefs welcome the Patriots, but with Jarrett Stidham running the offense. Prediction: Win

Week 5: vs Las Vegas

The Raiders upgraded their front seven on defense and their skills group on offense, but they still can’t keep up with the Chiefs. Prediction: Win

Week 6: at Buffalo

The Bills’ defense slows down the high-flying Chiefs attack, and Josh Allen finds Stefon Diggs and John Brown for some deep bombs. Prediction: Loss

Week 7: at Denver

Drew Lock vs Patrick Mahomes? Don’t tell me the Broncos’ defense can make up that gap. Prediction: Win

Week 8: vs N.Y. Jets

The Chiefs might crack 50 against the New York defense. Prediction: Win

Week 9: vs Carolina

Matt Rhule led Temple and Baylor to new heights in the college game. Is his defense ready for the Chiefs? Can he get Teddy Bridgewater ready in time for this? Prediction: Win

Week 10: Bye

Week 11: at Las Vegas

In front of their new fans, I like the Raiders to push the Chiefs a lot harder, but coming out of the bye, the Chiefs should be well prepared. Prediction: Win

Week 12: at Tampa Bay

This will be the fourth matchup between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes. Brady has more skill players around him on offense than he did the last time. But can the Buccaneers defense stand firm? Prediction: Loss

Week 13: vs Denver

Drew Lock is improving as a quarterback, but he still can’t beat Mahomes. Not yet. Prediction: Win

Week 14: at Miami

Tua vs Mahomes! This game might come down to the last drive, but the Chiefs will be on the winning end. Prediction: Win

Week 15: at New Orleans

I see this game getting flexed to primetime…and I see Drew Brees winning after putting together a throwback performance. Prediction: Loss

Week 16: vs Atlanta

The always enigmatic Falcons won’t have much fight against the Chiefs in a cold-weather setting. Prediction: Win

Week 17: vs L.A. Chargers

I think the Chiefs need to win this to secure a bye, and they show up on both sides of the ball to do it. Prediction: Win

Season Record Prediction: 12-4
