Falcons Visit Green Bay for Monday Night Football Betting Matchup

Written by on December 6, 2014

Week 14 of the 2014 pro football season presents an interesting Monday Night football betting matchup. The sports talking heads in Atlanta are all in a bit of a tizzy right now, and not all of it has to do with the performance of the Falcons. People are looking ahead to the new Stadium that is being built and the number of season tickets that need to be sold to make this thing viable. The general consensus is that a clearing out is coming, and that the shiny bauble dangled in front of the paying fans will be a new, big-name head coach. Date/Time: Monday, December 8, 8:30 PM Location: Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin All of that said, it may be tough to hire Coach Mike Smith if he can somehow get this team to a division title and a home playoff game. What’s astounding is that, even at 5-7, the Falcons are very much in position to do just that. There are 4 games left in the season in which to make that happen, and the feeling is that they will have to win at least 3 of those if they are to stay ahead of a New Orleans Saints team whose offense is starting to show signs of life. The task is not made any easier by the fact that the Falcons have to head into what is sure to be a ridiculously cold Breen Bay on Monday night. The Packers have cemented their position as a Super Bowl favorite after knocking off the New England Patriots last weekend. That win leaves them with an active 4-game winning streak in which they have looked very, very good indeed. Aaron Rodgers has looked like a solid MVP candidate at this stage of the season, and the entire team looks set to get hot at just the right time. The defense has been playing well, too, especially against the run, where they have been particularly dominant during this winning streak. BETTING ODDS This has all the makings of a mismatch, which is why the Packers are favored by 13. The Packers are 7-4 ATS this season, but, more impressively, are 7-1 ATS as a favorite. If you needed any more convincing, they are also 5-0 ATS at home. The Falcons are 5-7 ATS, and just 1-5 ATS on the road. This is a team that has a history of not enjoying life outside the dome. These two have only met once over the past 3 seasons, with the Packers winning SU and the Falcons covering. Game Odds: FALCONS: +13-110, OV 55 ½ -110, ML +435 PACKERS: -13-110, UN 55 ½ -110, ML -610 This looks like a mismatch on paper, and I believe it will play out that way on the field. I like the Packers to score early and often on the way to covering that 13-point spread.
