The 2024 NFL Week 1 of the regular season will get underway when the Baltimore Ravens visit the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday, September 5.
The Chiefs also hosted the Thursday season premiere last season, falling at home to the Detroit Lions.
This year’s season opener is a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship, which the Chiefs won in an upset at M&T Bank Stadium, limiting the Ravens to just 10 points.

Dominate the Gridiron: NFL Week 1 Odds and Predictions
Baltimore Ravens (+3) at Kansas City Chiefs
NFL Odds: Baltimore +125 / Kansas City -145 / O/U 47

The Ravens come in with all the motivation in this game, as the Chiefs are the two-time defending world champions, while the Ravens are still looking to establish themselves as elite.
Baltimore added Derrick Henry at tailback, and all signs out of training camp are that Henry and Lamar Jackson are combining to make a thunderous rushing offense.
The Chiefs are not likely to have Rashee Rice in this game as his off-season legal problems may well result in a lengthy suspension to start the season.
The team drafted Xavier Worthy and signed Hollywood Brown in free agency, but Brown’s sternoclavicular injury from the preseason game in Jacksonville will likely sideline him from 4-6 weeks.
So the Chiefs are likely to have just one of their top three wide receivers when Baltimore shows up.
NFL Pick: Baltimore to win (ML) / Baltimore to cover (+3).
^Green Bay Packers (+2.5) vs Philadelphia Eagles
NFL Odds: Green Bay +105 / Philadelphia -125 / O/U 48.5

Jordan Love improved significantly as starting quarterback in the latter part of the 2023 season, mastering ball security and drive management.
This led the Pack to a winning streak, securing a spot in the postseason. They defeated the Dallas Cowboys on the road but fell short against San Francisco in the divisional round.
Jalen Hurts saw a 10-1 start turn into an 11-6 finish, followed by humiliation in Tampa Bay in the wild-card round of the playoffs down in Tampa Bay.
The Eagles come back with a legit tailback (Saquon Barkley), two legit coordinators and a paved pathway to an NFC East title.
They have the talent to steamroll the Packers, especially now that Aaron Jones has left Lambeau Field behind.
NFL Pick: Philadelphia to win and cover.
^Houston Texans (-1.5) at Indianapolis Colts
NFL Odds: Houston -125 / Indianapolis +105 / O/U 48

Is Anthony Richardson ready for his moment as a franchise quarterback? He already has an elite tailback (Jonathan Taylor) and an ironclad defense, but he only started four games last year, and he didn’t finish any of them due to a variety of injuries.
The Texans not only won the AFC South last year, but they looked dominant doing so. In the off-season, they added Stefon Diggs to an already exciting wide receiver room, and they added Danielle Hunter to their pass rush.
While Richardson is shaking off the rust, I see the Texans making an immediate statement in their season opener.
NFL Pick: Texans to win and cover.
^Dallas Cowboys (+1) at Cleveland Browns)
NFL Odds: Dallas -110 / Cleveland -110 / O/U 44
Sunday, September 8, 4:25 pm ET
The Browns run a grinding offense that loves to pound the ball up the middle. The Cowboys struggled to stop the run last year – and they brought in a new defensive coordinator, Mike Zimmer, who pledged to stop the run.
In the preseason opener against the Rams, it looks like the Cowboys still have some work to do in that area.
Dallas’ defense forces turnovers, with three takeaways against the Rams. However, their secondary has coverage problems. Stetson Bennett IV didn’t exploit this due to accuracy issues, having not played a meaningful game since Georgia’s national championship.
Cleveland still doesn’t know what Deshaun Watson will be able to do for them. They won 11 games with five different quarterbacks despite losing tailback Nick Chubb in Week 2 to a knee injury that required not one, but two, surgeries.
His rehab workouts have been impressive, and a video of him hitting 540 pounds on the squat rack went viral. The knee seems to be in working order, so now it’s just a conditioning issue heading into the season.
Can the Cowboys stop him up the middle? We know that Cleveland’s defense is smothering.
NFL Pick: Browns to win and cover… and take the under.
