Why should you bet on the Patriots?
I wouldn’t want to be Tom Brady’s next opponent after the beating that he and his team took on national television. He went just 16 for 36 for 267 yards — and no touchdowns. The New Orleans passing defense is not nearly as tough as the one that the Chiefs brought last week — in the opener, the Saints found themselves sliced and diced by the mediocre arm of Sam Bradford. So look for Brady to send the ball down the field with a lot more authority. Mike Gillislee scored three touchdowns in the opener for the Patriots, and I look for him to do more damage carrying the ball this week. On defense, the Patriots were definitely feast and famine last week. The Chiefs scored 21 points in the first quarter but then were held scoreless through the second and third, as the Patriots took a 27-21 lead entering the last quarter. The Chiefs would then score 21 more unanswered points to walk away with the win to set a record for the highest point total that New England has permitted with Bill Belichick as coach. I expect the Patriots’ defense to bring a lot more focus against New Orleans.Team Statistics

Why should you put your money on the Saints?
The Saints do have a dynamic offense. Last week, they gained 284 yards through the air against a stout Viking secondary, as Drew Brees went 27 for 37 and had a touchdown pass. Adrian Peterson only saw limited action, picking up 18 yards, as it remains to see what role he will play in the New Orleans offense. Given that the Saints only rushed for 60 yards, they seem to be looking for a contributor in their backfield. If the Patriots don’t cover any better this week than they did in their opener, the Saints could make things really interesting. As has been the case for several years now, the Achilles heel for the New Orleans Saints is their defense. It was their strength during their Super Bowl season, but against the Vikings it looked pedestrian. Sam Bradford was able to throw for 341 yards — and the rushing defense was not much better, as the Vikings were able to rumble for 129 yards on the ground, most of which was credited to rookie Dalvin Cook. The Saints’ offense won’t be able to score quickly enough to keep up with the Patriots if the Saints don’t come with some commitment in their coverage game down the field.Team Statistics
