NFL Betting: N.Y. Giants 2020 Schedule Analysis

The New York Giants enter the 2020 season with plenty of questions. They have a new head coach, in Joe Judge, and they have a second-year quarterback, in Daniel Jones, who showed some promise last year — but also threw a ton of interceptions. The Giants have another year or so of rebuilding ahead of them before they can contend, even in the relatively soft NFC East. If you plan to include the NFL in your sports betting for the fall, take a look at our thoughts about the Giants’ chances each week in the fall campaign.

NFL Betting: N.Y. Giants 2020 Schedule Analysis

Week 1: vs Pittsburgh

Can you believe this game will be on Monday Night Football? Big Ben Roethlisberger should be back after rehabbing his elbow. Will he have time to get his rhythm back with a virtual off-season? Will the Giants put things together with a new coach in that same off-season environment? Prediction: Loss

Week 2: at Chicago

The Bears’ defense shut down the Giants last year, and they will do it again. Nick Foles at quarterback will mean that the Bears move the ball more smoothly than they did last year. Prediction: Loss

Week 3: vs San Francisco

The 49ers will play their second game in a row in the Eastern time zone — and will probably stay in town after facing the Jets in Week 2. Their defense and running game should control the pace against the G-Men. Prediction: Loss

Week 4: at L.A. Rams

The Rams are an unusual team. However, they still have a stout defense, led by Aaron Donald, so they should be able to drive the rhythm of this game. If the Giants don’t mount a pass rush, this could get ugly. Prediction: Loss

Week 5: at Dallas

Giants’ offensive coordinator Jason Garrett will return to Dallas, where he was the head coach for a decade, for the first time. The Cowboys have a lot of holes on defense — but so do the Giants, and the Cowboys have a high-octane offense. Prediction: Loss

Week 6: vs Washington

Daniel Jones torched the Redskins for five touchdown passes last year. However, the Redskins did not have Chase Young in their front seven on defense. The Giants have countered by adding Andrew Thomas at offensive tackle. Prediction: Win

Week 7: at Philadelphia

The Eagles have beaten the Giants six straight years at Lincoln Financial Field. They have also won seven straight in the rivalry and 11 of the last 12 overall. Philadelphia added speed to their wide receiving corps and continue to have a stout defense. Prediction: Loss

Week 8: vs Tampa Bay

The Giants beat Tampa Bay last year, but the Buccaneers didn’t have Tom Brady running the offense last year. The Bucs will be much better with ball security in 2020. Prediction: Loss

Week 9: at Washington

The Giants are just a bit ahead of Washington on the rebuilding curve. This week, though, I see Washington getting the better of the matchup. Prediction: Loss

Week 10: vs Philadelphia

The Eagles may come into MetLife Field a bit overconfident, and Daniel Jones’ improvement will give the Giants just enough room for the upset. Prediction: Win

Week 11: Bye

Week 12: at Cincinnati

Joe Burrow vs Daniel Jones? This could turn into a real track meet. I see the Giants edging this win out with their slight edge when it comes to defense. Prediction: Win

Week 13: at Seattle

The Giants will come back to reality with a trip to the Pacific Northwest. Russell Wilson should have plenty of room to throw the ball and scramble. Prediction: Loss

Week 14: vs Arizona

The Cardinals also have a second-year quarterback in Kyler Murray, but they are further along the rebuilding timeline than the Giants are. Prediction: Loss

Week 15: vs Cleveland

This promises to be another high-scoring affair, with the Browns also bringing in a solid offense and questions on defense, but I see the Browns closing this one out late. Prediction: Loss

Week 16: at Baltimore

If the line is single digits on this one, bet heavy on the Ravens. Prediction: Loss

Week 17: vs Dallas

Dallas could have clinched a bye by now and might well play their backups to rest them. If they’ve clinched the East but can’t get the bye, they might do this anyway. If that happens, then the Giants should win. Prediction: Win Season Record Prediction: 4-12
