The overreaction train is running strong already in the National Football League. There is panic in Dallas, as linebackers Sean Lee and Leighton Vander Esch are both out at least until the middle to end of October, and the offensive line looked old and slow against the Rams in Week 1. The Indianapolis Colts may regret bringing Philip Rivers to town as his typical late-game interception tendency struck again, opening the doors for a Jaguar win. On the other side of the slate, the Arizona Cardinals have to be excited after Kyler Murray found DeAndre Hopkins for a touchdown in a big win over the 49ers — who lost tight end George Kittle.
Let’s take a look at some NFL betting thoughts going into Week 2.
NFL Betting News:
2020 NFL Week 2 Rundown
Thursday, September 17
Thursday Night Football | NFL Week 2
Cincinnati at Cleveland
8:20 pm ET
NFL Network
Joe Burrow vs Baker Mayfield. Did the league actually get it right for a midweek prime-time matchup? I expect Mayfield to respond, but a confident Joe Burrow should have the whole AFC North on notice. Well, maybe not the Ravens.

Early Games | NFL Week 2
N.Y. Giants at Chicago
CBS
The Giants are rebuilding around the right quarterback, while the Bears are clinging desperately to the wrong quarterback. I wouldn’t put a lot of money on this game either way, but the “under” is tempting.
Atlanta at Dallas
FOX
We have a pair of 0-1 teams that need a win to stay relevant. Dallas is already starting a rookie at corner and lost the interior core of their defense. The good news for Dallas is that the Falcons don’t have the pass rush that the Rams did. For Atlanta? They should have plenty of room to throw the ball. Take the over here.
Detroit at Green Bay
FOX
Can’t anyone else in the NFC North put together a clutch team besides the Packers? The rest of the NFL is waiting.
Jacksonville at Tennessee
CBS
We have no idea which Gardner Minshew will show up — the relentless gunslinger who upset the Colts last week or the mediocre arm that wilted down the stretch in 2019. Why would the Titans sign Stephen Gostkowski, who couldn’t make extra points in New England?
Minnesota at Indianapolis
FOX
We have two quarterbacks who have transcendent arms but who have a penchant for making just a mistake or two more than their teams can bear.
Buffalo at Miami
CBS
Bills fans have to be excited after seeing their offense rolling over the Jets last week. But trips to Miami are treacherous for everyone else in the AFC East.
San Francisco at N.Y. Jets
FOX
The 49ers should have some frustrations to work out against the Jets. However, they lost yet another passing target when tight end George Kittle went down in the opener (side note: who could have guessed that a limited off-season would result in so many crucial injuries? But at least the league is making money).
L.A. Rams at Philadelphia
FOX
The Rams opened against a Dallas team that is great at making other teams look terrific. The Eagles let a 17-point lead over Washington slip away in a loss. This could get ugly.
Denver at Pittsburgh
CBS
Denver got 10 bonus points from the Titans (three missed field goals and an extra point) and still couldn’t win at home. Pittsburgh’s defense throttled the Giants in their opener.
Carolina at Tampa Bay
FOX
Carolina’s defense got shredded by Las Vegas in the opener. If Derek Carr can pick you apart, then I bet Tom Brady can too.
Late Games | NFL Week 2
Washington at Arizona
FOX
This will be a fun game to watch, with two young quarterbacks that should be part of the next generation of franchise leaders. Arizona is further along the rebuilding path than is the Washington Football Team.
Kansas City at L.A. Chargers
CBS
The Chiefs will have a tougher task on offense in Week 2, but the Chargers couldn’t pile up much offense against the Bengals in their opener.
Baltimore at Houston
CBS
The next victim in the Baltimore Ravens’ offensive onslaught will be the Houston Texans, who had to deal with the Chiefs last week.
Sunday Night Football | NFL Week 2
New England at Seattle
8:20 pm ET
NBC
Cam Newton impressed in his New England debut, running for two touchdowns. However, Seattle’s offense won’t be as easy to control as was Miami’s.
Monday Night Football | NFL Week 2
New Orleans at Las Vegas
8:15 pm ET
ESPN / ABC
Carolina scored at will against Las Vegas. Don’t you think the Saints will be able to score even more?
