With plenty of mouthwatering matchups and great expectations for both franchises this season, we are guaranteed to have a classic NFL showdown this Sunday, as these two old rivals face-off at the Lambeau. Why Bet on NY Giants? (2-2, 0-3- 1 ATS)

To the surprise of very few people, the Giants were flat-footed in their Monday Night loss at Minnesota. Eli Manning couldn’t get his game going in the air, OBJ was outplayed and out-talked by Minny’s defense, and the tailbacks also had a relatively muted game. Fortunately for the Giants, Green Bay’s defense isn’t as imposing as Minnesota’s, so the Manning-led passing game (ranked 4th in the NFL in passing yards) offense should be due for a better performance in the air, and that of course means a possible bounce-back performance for Giants’ top receiver OBJ who was limited to a career-low 3 receptions last week. Defensively, the Giants have improved in a number of areas– compared to last season– but NY has a banged up secondary that will need to make the most of the available talent if it is to slow down Rodgers and gang.

Why Bet on Green Bay? (2-1 SU, 1-2 ATS)

Following their loss at the Vikings in Minnesota in Week 2, the Packers bounced back with a 34-27 win at the Lambeau Field. Mid-way through the game, the Packers led comfortably with a 31-10 score, but as they’ve done so many times in recent seasons, the Packs’ defense got complacent and allowed Detroit back in the game, with Green Bay having to endure some nervy end to the game. This, mind you, happened after the Packers fell to Minnesota because of the same reason, and almost collapsed in similar fashion in their narrow win at Jacksonville. So, even with All-Pro quarterback Rodgers having stellar pieces– like Lacy, Nelson and Co.– who are capable of exploiting NY’s questionable defense, Green Bay will need to find solutions of its own in defense against the Giants, especially in the second half when the Packers tend to get very vulnerable.

Expert NFL Betting Predictions and Picks

The Packers are well-rested after last week’s bye and Coach Mike McCarthy is a coach who knows how to plan for such games, so it shouldn’t be far-fetched to expect a Green Bay win here. The problem, however, is that the Packers have a very anemic passing defense that is ranked at No. 29 in the nation, giving up too many big plays to the big-time passers it has faced this season (385 passing yards and 3 TDs to Mathew Stafford in Week 3, 320 passing yards and 1 TD to Blake Bortles in Week 1). Against Manning– who is 5th in the NFL in passing yards)– and his talented receivers, we expect the Giants to have a strong fighting chance, doing well enough to keep the game close all the way to the end. With that in mind, the G-Men, who’ve won their last three straight vs. Green Bay and are 4-2 SU/5-1 ATS in their last 6 overall vs. the Packers, should be able to cover the spread on Sunday, if not knick out a last-minute upset in a possibly high-scoring affair. Score Prediction: Green Bay 30, New York Giants 27 Writer’s Picks: Giants (-7), OVER 47.5
