The last time the Detroit Lions had an 8-2 record in an NFL season, John F. Kennedy was President of the United States. The year was 1962, and the Lions were just five years removed from their last NFL championship. They moved to 8-2 this past weekend against the Chicago Bears by doing something that no other NFL team has done this season: come back from a double-digit deficit to win in the last five minutes of regulation. Teams had trailed by double digits with five minutes left 84 times and lost each time, until Detroit came back to beat the Bears. Now they take on the Green Bay Packers (4-6) for the 189th time in this storied rivalry. The Lions are on a rare run in this series, having won four games in a row in a rivalry that has seen the Packers win 105 of the first 188. Why should you bet on the Green Bay Packers?
The Packers are 5-5 against the spread this season and are 3-5 straight up in the eight games in which they have been the underdog. This is the largest line they have faced this season, though. The offense has struggled, just 19th in points scored (20.2), 19th in passing yardage and 21st in rushing yardage. The defense has been pretty solid, allowing just 20.2 points per game, 10th overall.
Jordan Love has thrown for 2,331 yards in ten games, with a 16:10 TD:INT ratio. His 59.7% pass completion rate could use some improvement. He has also run for 182 yards and three touchdowns. Jayden Reed has caught 32 passes for 463 yards and four scores, and Romeo Doubs has 38 receptions for 396 yards and seven touchdown catches, which ranks second in the NFL.

Why should you put your money on the Detroit Lions?
Detroit has won four of the last five games against Green Bay but has just a +20 point differential over that stretch. This season, the Lions are 7-3 against the spread, but when they have been favored by at least 7 ½ points, they are just 1-1 against the spread. When they have been the moneyline favorite, as they are this week, they are 7-1 straight up. Their win as the underdog came in Week 1 as they stopped the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Lions’ offense has been terrific all season long. The unit ranks sixth in scoring offense (27.2 points per game) and fifth in both passing and rushing yardage. They permit 22.9 points per game, which ranks 22nd in the league. Jared Goff has thrown for 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions, with a 68.1% pass completion rate. Three of those picks came this past weekend against the Chargers, but the Lions’ offense was able to overcome those problems late. Amon-Ra St. Brown is sixth in the league in receptions (73) and fifth in receiving yards (898). David Montgomery has run for 577 yards and eight touchdowns, and Jahmmyr Gibbs has run for 512 yards and five scores. With this many weapons, the Lions are tough to stop.

Packers vs Lions Final Score and Prediction in the Thanksgiving Day
Detroit is rolling right now, and the Packers are still trying to figure out their way forward offensively after the departure of Aaron Rodgers. The Lions almost got upset at home by Chicago last week before turning a 26-14 deficit into a 31-26 win. They won’t suffer similar lapses in attention against Green Bay. I predict a final score of Detroit 27, Green Bay 17.
