Panthers at Eagles Odds | The 3-9 Carolina Panthers head north to take on the 10-2 Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers have actually had a resurgence since quarterback Bryce Young returned to the lineup; before their bye week, they beat New Orleans at home and the Giants in Germany.
Coming out of the bye, they’ve dropped two straight, but one loss came against Kansas City by just three points, and the other came in overtime against Tampa Bay.
Losing two games to better teams by a combined six points is a moral victory at this point. After they leave Philadelphia, Carolina will host Dallas and Arizona before finishing with two road dates: Tampa Bay and Atlanta.
The Eagles have an eight-game winning streak going since their bye, although their 24-19 win in Baltimore last Sunday owes a lot to the struggles of Ravens kicker Justin Tucker, who missed an extra point and two field goals.
Philadelphia can clinch a playoff spot if they win and one of several scenarios unfolds: Atlanta or Tampa Bay loses or ties and Arizona ties Seattle.
If Arizona loses instead, then either a Rams loss or tie or a Lions win or tie would get them into the postseason. If the Eagles tie, there are some other complicated scenarios that would get them in as well.
The Eagles open a stretch of four out of five games at home; after Carolina leaves, the Eagles host Pittsburgh, travel down I-95 to face Washington, and then return home with a cakewalk as Dallas and the Giants come to town.

Tampa Bay clogged up the Carolina running game, such as it is, on Sunday, so Bryce Young had to carry the offense, and he did so impressively. He ran for his second career touchdown on the ground and put the Panthers ahead with a touchdown pass with 30 seconds left in regulation while posting 298 passing yards on the day. Young had been averaging 177.9 yards per game through the air in his career (23 starts). He surpassed that by halftime against Tampa Bay, with 186 passing yards. It looks like his learning curve is taking shape. The NFC South is a very weak division this year, and beating the Bucs would have put the Panthers at 4-8 – on the edge of playoff conversations but far from eliminated.
The Panthers need to get better at finishing drives in the red zone. They drove inside the Tampa Bay 20-yard line four times last week, but only had one touchdown. The week before, they had six trips into the red zone, but only found the end zone on two of those possessions. That inability to finish drives let the Buccaneers get off the mat and force overtime. Can the Panthers get into the end zone against a Philadelphia defense that is even tougher than Tampa Bay’s?
^Philadelphia Eagles -901
The Eagles had some luck against the Ravens, but no team builds a long winning streak without some good fortune. One bright spot for Philadelphia was edge rusher Nolan Smith Jr. The team was playing without Brandon Graham (triceps) for the first time, and Smith had a sack, a tackle for loss and eight total tackles. His presence helped keep Lamar Jackson under pressure and was a major factor in the Ravens only scoring 19 points.
One area in which the Eagles could improve is their offensive game planning. Saquon Barkley and A.J. Brown are their top playmakers in the rushing and receiving games, respectively. In the first quarter, though, the Eagles tried to get some of their other tailbacks and receivers into the action, and that contributed to their scoreless first quarter. No team has fewer than the 17 that the Eagles have combined in the first quarter this season. Those slow starts will not pay off in the postseason. However, the Panthers still have enough talent deficits on both sides of the ball for the Eagles to win. But will they win by two touchdowns?
^Panthers at Eagles Odds, Final Score and Prediction in Week 14
This should be a game that the Eagles control for much of the day. However, they have only won by 14 or more points four times this year: 28-3 over the Giants in New York, 37-17 at Cincinnati, 34-6 at Dallas, and 37-20 at the Rams. Can the Eagles deliver a lesson against the Panthers? I think they can, primarily because of their defense’s ability to keep the clamps on the Carolina offense.
I predict a final score of Philadelphia 27, Carolina 9.
