NFL Preseason Week 2 Bet-On Teams

NFL Preseason Week 2 Bet-On Teams

Written by on August 15, 2017

The second week of the NFL preseason will show us what some of the starters on both sides of the ball — particularly the offenses — have in store for us. As you look at your NFL odds for this week’s preseason games, consider the teams that we have listed here as solid picks.

NFL Preseason Week 2 Bet-On Teams

New England Patriots at Houston Texans

When: Saturday, August 19, 8:00 PM Where: NRG Stadium, Houston TV: None Radio: 98.5 The Sports Hub (New England) / SportsRadio 610 KILT 610AM (Houston) Live Stream: NFL Live NFL Preseason Odds: Texans -1 Tha Patriots are a 1 ½-point road underdog against the Houston Texans. However, this version of the Patriots should be even better in 2017 than they were a year ago, thanks to the arrival of Kony Ealy, Stephon Gilmore and Brandin Cooks. I don’t see the Patriots faltering against a Houston team whose best quarterback option is that same Deshaun Watson who got the interception bug at Clemson.

Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks

When: Friday, August 18, 10:00 PM Where: CenturyLink Field, Seattle TV: FOX Radio: KFXN-FM (Minnesota) / 710 ESPN (Seattle) Live Stream: NFL Live NFL Preseason Odds: Seahawks -3 Seattle hosts Minnesota this week and sits as a three-point favorite, thanks in large part to that raucous 12th Man who will be cheering from the stands. However, it’s also thanks in large part to the return to health of the Legion of Boom that many in the NFL see as a sign that the Seahawks will contend this year. Minnesota is still a tier below — and Seattle will make that statement.

Green Bay Packers at Washington Redskins

When: Saturday, August 19, 7:30 PM Where: FedExField, Landover, MD TV: None Radio: 620 WTMJ (Green Bay) / WTEM 980 AM (Washington) Live Stream: NFL Live NFL Preseason Odds: Redskins -3½ Green Bay goes to Washington as a 3 ½-point underdog. Even if you don’t see Aaron Rodgers playing more than a quarter, this is an interesting line. Kirk Cousins is a gifted quarterback, but the Redskins no longer have DeSean Jackson streaking down the field as a big deep threat. Rodgers will have Jordy Nelson and the rest of his receiving corps in place, along with a healthy O-line to protect him. I see the Packers covering, even if the Redskins kick a late field goal to snatch the win away.

Indianapolis Colts at Dallas Cowboys

When: Saturday, August 19, 7:00 PM Where: AT&T Stadium, Arlington TV: NFL Network Radio: (Indianapolis) / 105.3 The Fan (Dallas) Live Stream: NFL Live NFL Preseason Odds: Cowboys -5½ Dallas hosts the Indianapolis Colts as 5 ½-point favorites. As they showed against both Arizona and the Rams so far in the preseason, their defense has a lot of talent, but they also have the penchant for making the sort of boneheaded play that lets the opposition back in at just the wrong time. I don’t see the Colts going down to Dallas and taking this win, but I don’t see the Cowboys covering either. Give me Indianapolis to cover — but the Cowboys to win.

LA Rams at Oakland Raiders

When: Saturday, August 19, 10:00 PM Where: O.co Coliseum, Oakland TV: None Radio: ESPNLA 710AM (LA) / 95.7 The GAME  (Oakland) Live Stream: NFL Live NFL Preseason Odds: Raiders -3 Oakland hosts the Los Angeles Rams on Friday night and is favored to win by three points. The Rams showed a lot of defensive spine against Dallas last Saturday, but I also see the Raiders giving Derek Carr plenty of time on the field — and I also see Marshawn Lynch making a statement with his feet in this game. So while the Rams may have won last week, I don’t see them doing the same against a Raider team that has more energy on defense and will move the ball more effectively at home. The Raiders head into Week 2 of the NFL preseason as favorites to win.

Denver Broncos at San Francisco 49ers

When: Saturday, August 19, 10:00 PM Where: Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara TV: None Radio: KOA 850 AM (Denver) / KNBR 680 (San Francisco) Live Stream: NFL Live NFL Preseason Odds: 49ers -2½ Denver is a one-point underdog at San Francisco. The only rational explanation for this sort of line is that bookmakers and bettors are thinking that a meeting between reserves will end up in the muddled sort of outcome that this line indicates. However, Denver has a defense that should be able to shut down these 49ers — and between Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch, the Broncos should be able to move the ball enough to win and cover. Brian Hoyer might not get more than a handful of first downs for San Francisco in this game, and the Broncos should roll to a win.

NY Giants at Cleveland Browns

When: Monday, August 21, 8:00 PM Where: FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland TV: None Radio: WFAN 660 AM (NY) /  WKRK-FM 92.3 (Cleveland) Live Stream: NFL Live NFL Preseason Odds: Browns -1½ The New York Giants visit Cleveland as 1 ½-point underdogs. With the addition of Evan Engram and Brandon Marshall, the Giants have made major upgrades to their offense. Their defense showed some major upgrades last year, as their sweep of the Dallas Cowboys during the regular season demonstrated. When they take the field against Cleveland, they will see a Brown steam that is on the rise — but still far below the Giants. New York should use their superior talent on both sides of the field to win this one.
