This week’s matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals just got a little more interesting, as Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has gone onto the NFL’s COVID-19 list. If his positive test is confirmed, that would leave Mason Rudolph as the starting quarterback. Let’s take a look at the rankings of the 28 quarterbacks who will take the field in Week 10 as you plan your NFL betting.
NFL News: QB Power Rankings after Week 9
28. Jake Luton (JAX)
Filling in for Gardner Minshew II, Luton did a decent job leading the offense against Houston. It’s hard to see him winning a duel against Aaron Rodgers.
27. Daniel Jones (NYG)
Jones just turns the ball over too often. Until that stops, it’s hard to see him as a franchise quarterback.
26. Ryan Tannehill (TEN)
Tannehill’s performance has dipped a bit as the Titans have fallen out of the ranks of the unbeaten.
25. Cam Newton (NE)
Newton looks confused at times in games, and he has a hard time running without slipping and falling. He looked great in the Patriots’ comeback drive against the Jets, but are the COVID-19 effects lingering?
24. Kirk Cousins (MIN)
Cousins bounced back with three touchdown passes against Detroit. He’ll need to be even better against the Chicago defense.
23. Teddy Bridgewater (CAR)
Not having a defense or a running game hurts, but Bridgewater could also do better in the passing game. Getting Christian McCaffrey back will help.
22. Joe Burrow (CIN)
Love the arm and the confidence. He needs a better O-line and a better defense for the Bengals to win more.
21. Matthew Stafford (DET)
When Stafford shows up, the Lions look like a playoff contender. But when will he start showing up every week?
20. Alex Smith (WAS)
Smith should be a shoo-in for Comeback Player of the Year. He threw for over 300 yards last week, and he faces a bad pass defense in Detroit this week.
19. Nick Mullens (SF)
Mullens has thrown for 291 yards or more in two of his three starts in 2020. The Saints might come in overconfident after routing the Buccaneers last week.
18. Nick Foles (CHI)
He’s looked slow at times, but he has 607 yards and four touchdown passes against New Orleans and Tennessee in his last two games. Foles has a chance to put up big numbers against Minnesota this week.
17. Philip Rivers (IND)
Rivers had six touchdown passes and 633 yards combined against Cincinnati and Detroit. This week he faces the Titans, who permitted more than 300 yards to Nick Foles.
16. Drew Lock (DEN)
Lock has accounted for six touchdowns with 561 passing yards and 46 rushing yards in the last two games, against the Chargers and the Falcons. This week he faces a Raiders team that allowed 326 yards to Justin Herbert.
15. Tua Tagovailoa (MIA)
Tua’s debut was forgettable, but he threw two touchdown passes and had 248 yards through the air and 35 on the ground in a win over Arizona.
14. Tom Brady (TB)
Yes, Brady was dreadful against New Orleans. He only had 217 yards and one score against Carolina in Week 2, but the Buccaneers had looked much better before the debacle against the Saints.
13. Baker Mayfield (CLE)
Mayfield is currently on the COVID list due to quarantine concerns. But as long as he tests negative he will play on Sunday. Mayfield would face a Houston team that gave up two touchdowns, 304 passing yards and 13 rushing yards to Jacksonville rookie Jake Luton last week.
12. Drew Brees (NO)
Brees faces a 49ers defense that has permitted four touchdowns apiece to Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers the last two weeks, and Brees had four touchdown passes against Tampa Bay this past week. He also has both Michael Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders healthy.
11. Carson Wentz (PHI)
Why is Wentz this high? Because he faces the Giants this week. In Week 7, he torched them for 359 yards and had three touchdowns. Even though Wentz has had turnover issues, he should still be able to put up big numbers.
10. Derek Carr (LV)
Carr has averaged 250.3 yards and two touchdown passes per game. The Devner defense has been very generous lately to opposing quarterbacks, including Atlanta’s Matt Ryan, who threw for 284 yards and three scores last week.
9. Justin Herbert (LAC)
The Washington Huskies product is averaging 306.6 passing yards per game and accounting for 2.7 touchdowns per contest. Miami’s defense is tough, but Arizona was able to move easily against them last week.
8. Ben Roethlisberger (PIT)
If Roethlisberger can get off the COVID list in time for the game against the Bengals, he should have plenty of room to operate. He hurt his knee in the first half against Dallas but came back to lead his team from ten points down against Dallas.
7. Jared Goff (LAR)
Goff does not do well against strong opposing pass rushes, but this week he faces Seattle…who doesn’t rush the passer well or defend down the field, ranking last in the NFL in pass defense.
6. Lamar Jackson (BAL)
The Patriots gave up a huge passing day to Joe Flacco before coming back to win on Monday, so Lamar Jackson should be able to put up huge numbers this week — on the ground as well as in the air.
5. Josh Allen (BUF)
With three passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown last week, Allen is back to putting up MVP numbers again. He should have plenty of room to operate against Arizona.
4. Kyler Murray (ARI)
Arizona also has the opportunity to put up big numbers this week, as Buffalo stymied the Seahawks early but still gave up 34 points in the win.
3. Russell Wilson (SEA)
He would be ranked higher this week, but he hasn’t done well in recent years against the Rams.
2. Deshaun Watson (HOU)
What is the Houston quarterback doing way up here? The Texans play the Browns, who will give up big plays down the field.
1. Aaron Rodgers (GB)
Rodgers is already putting up huge numbers, and this week he gets to take on the Jaguars.
