QB Power Rankings after NFL Week 15

QB Power Rankings after NFL Week 15

Written by on December 23, 2020

Another week in the NFL showed more mastery by Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield, as the Buffalo Bills clinched the AFC East and the Cleveland Browns won 10 games for the first time in 13 years. Cincinnati’s Ryan Finley redeemed himself with a huge win over Pittsburgh, taking some big hits along the way. Alex Smith had to take a seat with a calf injury, but with Washington going 3-1 in his four starts, the Football Team just might win the NFC East. Jalen Hurts made it two solid starts in a row for Philadelphia, making the offseason decision for the front office with respect to Carson Wentz even tougher.

Let’s look at the latest quarterback power rankings in the NFL as you consider your weekend sports betting.

NFL News: QB Power Rankings after Week 15

#1 Patrick Mahomes (KC)

There’s no reason to kick Mahomes out of the top spot right now, even though Aaron Rodgers has better numbers. Rodgers only has one win against a winning team this season, and wouldn’t you rather have Mahomes if you needed a last second touchdown drive?

#2 Aaron Rodgers (GB)

The Packers actually have a more difficult finish to their season than the Chiefs do, so we’ll see if Rodgers’ easy skate through 2020 gets any more difficult.

#3 Josh Allen (BUF)

At this point, would failing to make the AFC Championship be a disappointment for Buffalo fans? The Bills and Allen have things cooking right now on offense, and Allen’s combination of accuracy and confidence have Buffalo rolling into the postseason.

#4 Russell Wilson (SEA)

This is another gunslinger with playoff skins on the wall, but that O-line…

#5 Deshaun Watson (HOU)

Watson almost carried the Texans to an upset of Indianapolis. Do you think he would elevate a team like the Ravens or the Rams?

#6 Drew Brees (NO)
He’s back in the saddle, and after an off drive or two against Kansas City, he had his rhythm back.

#7 Ryan Tannehill (TEN)

He’s too efficient to be called a gunslinger, but he can drive in the knife with a deep ball if you let your coverage slack off. Did you know that he has thrown 31 touchdown passes?

#8 Kyler Murray (ARI)

He will learn how to make better decisions under pressure, and watching his learning curve has been exciting.

#9 Lamar Jackson (BAL)

His legs make him a threat against any defense. The accuracy on deep balls down the field is really the only negative.

#10 Tom Brady (TB)

With more consistency, Brady won’t have to keep digging the Buccaneers out of holes.

#11 Baker Mayfield (CLE)

He’s no longer just a bus driver for a great running game. He’s improved his accuracy, and he’s always been confident.

#12 Justin Herbert (LAC)

Herbert will be on the short list of 2021 MVP candidates, assuming the Chargers add some talent around him.

#13 Kirk Cousins (MIN)

It’s frustrating to watch talented quarterbacks make awful mistakes at just the wrong time.

#14 Philip Rivers (IND)

The Colts haven’t had Rivers throw an awful pick at just the wrong time yet, which is a good sign. Hopefully it doesn’t come in Week 16, against the Steelers, or in a wild card game.

#15 Ben Roethlisberger (PIT)

It’s looking like the twilight of Big Ben’s career. Can he turn back the clock against the Colts this weekend?

#16 Matt Ryan (ATL)

Another great first half, another blown lead. It’s not all Ryan’s fault, by any means; after all, he doesn’t play defense. But still.

#17 Teddy Bridgewater (CAR)

In the second half of 2020, Bridgewater has not looked as good in clutch situations. It doesn’t help that his defense is porous.

#18 Matthew Stafford (DET)

Stafford would definitely benefit from a fresh start with another team. He still has the cannon arm, but the Lions’ situation seems toxic for him.

#19 Jalen Hurts (PHI)

With his mobility, Hurts extends plays outside the pocket but also knows when to dump the ball off instead of forcing throws.

#20 Tua Tagovailoa (MIA)

Tua has a lot to learn, but he shows more flashes of greatness each week.

#21 Jared Goff (LAR)

That back-breaking pick against the Jets showed the underbelly of Goff’s game — that tendency to make awful mistakes at the worst times.

#22 Mitch Trubisky (CHI)

The Bears loosened up their offense to let Trubisky get out of the pocket and throw the ball, and he’s looked much better.

#23 Marcus Mariota (LV)

With Derek Carr on the shelf, Mariota threw for 266 yards and a touchdown in his first action in almost two seasons last week. What can he do this week?

#24 Daniel Jones (NYG)

It could be Jones this week, but his hamstring could make the G-men start Colt McCoy. Should the Giants give him another chance in 2021?

#25 Andy Dalton (DAL)

He’s definitely a backup quarterback at this point. Will the Cowboys pay Dak Prescott over $40 million a season in a big extension or franchise tag him again in 2021? Either way, Dalton can’t end up as the starter.

#26 Drew Lock (DEN)

The turnovers are down, but they still happen at the wrong time for his team.

#27 Gardner Minshew (JAC)

His Week 15 numbers are a little misleading because most of them came in garbage time. The Jaguars are now in the lead for the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes.

#28 Cam Newton (NE)

It’s been a disappointing 2020 for Newton. Maybe 2021 will bring another fresh start in a better place.

#29 Sam Darnold (NYJ)

The Jets’ win over the Rams was Darnold’s best game since the Jets embarrassed Dallas in Week 4 last year. When Adam Gase gets the boot, will the Jets stick with Darnold?

#30 Dwayne Haskins Jr (WAS)

Alex Smith (calf) is unlikely to play — but Haskins could get suspended after hosting a party with strippers without wearing a mask. And the Football Team leads the NFC East!

#31 Ryan Finley (CIN)

Finley completed just seven passes in the Bengals’ win, but he had a 23-yard touchdown run that salted away the win over Pittsburgh.

#32 C.J. Beathard (SF)

The 49ers won’t have Nick Mullens this week, and things are so thin they added Josh Rosen off the Tampa Bay practice squad. Beathard did show off his arm strength in a Hail Mary touchdown against Dallas last week.
