When New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh benched quarterback Zach Wilson after an unsightly 10-3 loss to the New England Patriots, it looked like a one-week punishment for Wilson’s petulant attitude with the media after the game. Mike White got the start, and did he ever deliver. He threw three touchdown passes, going 22 of 28 for 315 yards, leading the team to 466 yards of total offense on a rainy day, just one week after Wilson complained about the wet conditions contributing to his 9-of-22 day. White is just the fifth player in NFL history to have more than one 300-yard, 3-TD game in his first four starts. The others? Patrick Mahomes, Mark Rypien, Kurt Warner and Austin Davis. Most of these names are elite company. Check out the quarterback matchups going into Week 12 as you consider your NFL betting options.
NFL News: Week 13 QB Rundown
→ Thursday, December 1
Buffalo Bills (-5.5) at New England Patriots
(8:15 pm ET, Prime Video)
The Bills have spent the last four weeks playing with fire, seemingly turning their effort and execution up and down one series at a time. That led to a pair of losses to the Jets and the Vikings when they blew double-digit leads, and they struggled to put up wins over Cleveland and Detroit. Much of the problem seems to be Josh Allen’s consistency, but it is possible that his throwing arm has a UCL injury that we don’t know about. This week, facing Mac Jones, he should be able to take care of business on the road…right? Especially with Damien Harris out?
→ Sunday, December 4
Pittsburgh Steelers (+1) at Atlanta Falcons
(1:00 pm ET)
Marcus Mariota threw for 174 yards and contributed in the running game last week, but the Falcons only managed 13 points against Washington. Pittsburgh brings an undermanned secondary, but Mariota isn’t really a threat to burn you down the field. Kenny Pickett continues to develop in terms of maturity and confidence, and I like him to torch the Falcons.
Green Bay Packers (-2.5) at Chicago Bears
(1:00 pm ET)
Will it be Jordan Love or Aaron Rodgers? Rodgers left the loss to Philadelphia with an apparent rib injury, and Love looked terrific. Rodgers said he would like to play until the Packers are eliminated, but they haven’t looked like a postseason contender all season. Justin Fields is another game quarterback, but the Bears’ defense doesn’t really give him much of a chance.
Jacksonville Jaguars (+1) at Detroit Lions
(1:00 pm ET)
The Jaguars edged Baltimore last week as they continue to show more confidence. The Lions, though, went toe-to-toe with the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving. Jared Goff hasn’t shown this much confidence since his Super Bowl season with the Rams, but don’t sleep on the developing Trevor Lawrence, either.
N.Y. Jets (+3) at Minnesota Vikings
(1:00 pm ET)
Remember that Mike White also had huge numbers in a game last week…and then fell off the table the next. When the Vikings look at film on White, they are likely to have answers that the Bears did not – plus, the Vikings have an NFL-caliber defense. Kirk Cousins delivered against the Patriots on Thanksgiving night, and he should deliver again at home on Sunday.
Washington Commanders (-1) at N.Y. Giants
(1:00 pm ET)
Other teams seem to have figured out how to bottle up Saquon Barkley, which means that Daniel Jones has to shoulder more of the offensive burden, which means the Giants are losing games now. It’s hard to tell how high Taylor Heinicke’s ceiling is, but we know that he needs a solid running game…and he has one.
Tennessee Titans (+6.5) at Philadelphia Eagles
(1:00 pm ET)
Jalen Hurts brings both mobility and accuracy, and the Titans haven’t seen that combination in an opposing quarterback since Josh Allen threw for over 300 yards and four touchdowns against them in Week 2. Ryan Tannehill continues to deliver in the clutch, but he definitely needs that running game to key the offense.
Denver Broncos (+7) at Baltimore Ravens
(1:00 pm ET)
The Denver Broncos only managed 10 points at Carolina, as Russell Wilson got beaten by…Sam Darnold? Expect the Ravens and Lamar Jackson to take out some frustrations by running their grinding offense all over the Broncos.
Cleveland Browns (-6) at Houston Texans
(1:00 pm ET)
The return of Deshaun Watson makes this an especially juicy matchup given the fact that he started his career in Houston and has not played a game since they traded him to Cleveland. Watson can hand the ball off to Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, but what will Kyle Allen be able to do in Houston?
Seattle Seahawks (-3.5) at L.A. Rams
(4:05 pm ET)
The Rams were down to Bryce Perkins this week at quarterback, and he could not get much going against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Seahawks have the dynamic Geno Smith running the offense, and while Seattle lost to Las Vegas this past week, it wasn’t on the offense, as the D gave up 40.
Miami Dolphins (+4.5) at San Francisco 49ers
(4:05 pm ET)
Jimmy Garoppolo and Tua Tagovailoa are both putting up stellar numbers, especially over the past few weeks. The 49ers have a slightly better defense, and they get this game at home.
Kansas City Chiefs (-2.5) at Cincinnati Bengals
(4:25 pm ET)
This rematch of the AFC Championship should be exciting, as the Bengals will finally get Ja’Marr Chase back. When they met in Week 17 last year, Chase caught 10 balls for 266 yards and three touchdowns. Joe Burrow is throwing with confidence – but so is Patrick Mahomes, who has figured out how to run a high-octane offense without Tyreek Hill. The red zone stalls against the Rams, though, were concerning.
L.A. Chargers (-3) at Las Vegas Raiders
(4:25 pm ET)
Two hot offenses and two iffy defenses. With Keenan Allen back, Justin Herbert should be able to air it out – but Derek Carr also has Davante Adams. The Raiders have two straight overtime wins, though, and they get this game at home.
Indianapolis Colts (+9) at Dallas Cowboys
(8:20 pm ET)
Matt Ryan is back at quarterback for interim head coach Jeff Saturday, and we will see how he does against Pittsburgh on Monday night. Dallas looks to have found ways to score, but Dak Prescott’s two early interceptions against the Giants made Thanksgiving much more tense than it had to be.
→ Monday, December 5
New Orleans Saints (+6.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
(8:15 pm ET, ESPN)
Which Andy Dalton will show up? Two weeks ago he had three touchdown passes, but last week the Saints got blanked in San Francisco. Tom Brady can still lead solid scoring drives, and the Saints give up too much on defense.
