Ravens vs Browns Odds and Prediction for Week 4

Ravens vs Browns Odds and Prediction for Week 4

Written by on September 29, 2023

The AFC North has a reputation for gritty play, and the divisional showdown between the Ravens vs Browns on Sunday afternoon will feature more of the same. The Cleveland Browns lead the NFL in most defensive categories, including yards permitted (163.7). The second-place defense in that stat is the San Francisco 49ers, who have permitted almost 90 more yards per contest. The Baltimore Ravens sit at tenth in overall defense, but safety Marcus Williams and Pro Bowl cornerback Marlon Humphrey have only appeared in one game. The Browns are led by edge rusher Myles Garrett, who already has 10 quarterback hits and 4 ½ sacks this year – and six sacks in 10 career games against the Ravens. However, the Ravens have gone 6-4 in those games.

Why should you bet on the Baltimore Ravens?

The Ravens picked up an impressive win over the Cincinnati Bengals ni Week 2, but then they coughed up an ugly 22-19 overtime loss against an Indianapolis Colts team playing a backup quarterback last week. Lamar Jackson ran for 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but his passing game (22 of 31 for 202 yards, 0 TD) was not impressive. Zay Flowers caught eight balls for 48 yards, and Gus Edwards ran the ball for just over 50 yards. Edwards entered the concussion protocol after Week 3 but has been cleared. The defense was impressive as Brandon Stephens posted eight tackles and Kyle Hamilton logged three sacks.

The defense permits 18.3 points per game, good for eighth in the league. They are tenth in yards permitted per game. The injury report, though, has Hamilton, Williams, Humphrey, and Damarion Williams all listed as questionable, which would cause some major problems on defense if they all had to miss. The Ravens made some key mistakes that caused drives to end last week against the Colts; will they make similar mistakes this week?

Why should you put your money on the Cleveland Browns?

Don’t look now, but Deshaun Watson might finally be warming up as an elite NFL quarterback once again. Last week, the Browns shredded the Tennessee Titans, 27-3. Watson went 27 of 33 for 289 yards and two scores. The team clearly missed Nick Chubb as the team’s top running back was Pierre Strong Jr (27 yards). So even with the addition of Kareem Hunt at tailback, the Browns’ running game is ready for improvement. Amari Cooper caught seven balls for 116 yards and a touchdown, and Elijah Moore led the team with nine catches. A problem for the Browns is that Watson has taken 12 sacks already, through three games.

In addition to yards permitted per game, the Browns’ defense is also tops in points permitted per game (10.7), and they are second to Philadelphia in rushing defense, permitting just 52 yards per game. Grant Delpit is the team’s top tackler (16 total, 13 solo), and he is the only Browns defender with an interception so far.

Ravens vs Browns Final Score and Prediction

The Browns already smothered a talented Bengals offense and a Titans offense that still has Derrick Henry. Lamar Jackson has an MVP trophy on his mantle, but even with Nelson Agholor, the Ravens’ offense is not living up to its potential so far. I predict a final score of Cleveland 24, Baltimore 16.
