Steelers at Commanders: NFL Week 10 Odds, Expert Picks & Score Prediction - 2024 Season

Steelers at Commanders: NFL Week 10 Odds, Expert Picks & Score Prediction – 2024 Season

Written by on November 8, 2024

NFL Game Odds: Steelers at Commanders | The Washington Commanders have a half-game lead in the NFC East with an impressive 7-2 start to the season.

The Commanders addressed their strong but slightly lacking defense by acquiring four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore from the New Orleans Saints. They traded a third-, fourth-, and sixth-round pick in the 2025 draft for him.

Lattimore brings an extra degree of physicality and toughness that will help the Commanders as they look to close out the season with an NFC East title.

This week they welcome the Pittsburgh Steelers, another team with a tough defense. However, the Steelers are still looking for their offensive identity as they work quarterback Russell Wilson into the mix.

A home win would give the Commanders an 8-2 record – but they will need every win they can get, as the Philadelphia Eagles have heated up and should win easily in Dallas in Week 10.

We’ve broken down the sports betting insights about this matchup for you, so read on before you lock in your wagers.

Pittsburgh Steelers +123

The Steelers come out of their bye week to face the Commanders, but in Week 8 they beat the Giants, 26-18, thanks to two touchdowns from Calvin Austin III. One score came on a 73-yard punt return, and the other came on a 29-yard touchdown pass that he caught over his shoulder and took to the house. In what is an ongoing theme for the Giants, T.J. Watt strip-sacked Daniel Jones late in the game, and Jones also threw an interception with 42 seconds remaining.

Wilson, in contrast, went 20 of 28 for 278 yards in his second home start with Pittsburgh. He did cough up a fumble with 4:42 left in the fourth, but the defense took care of things. Najee Harris picked up 114 yards on the ground, making it three straight 100-yard games. The Steelers were much better at getting into the red zone than the end zone, but Chris Boswell nailed four field goals.

Despite the fact that they are 6-2, the Steelers have lost the first quarter in three of their last four games, coming after a win. However, while moving from Justin Fields to Russell Wilson at quarterback means some reduction in mobility, the touch and accuracy that Wilson brings to the passing game should elevate the offense. Also, Harris’ continued improvement at tailback makes the Pittsburgh attack more difficult to stop.

This should be a game that generates plenty of offense, so it could come down to the team whose quarterback is more attuned to the big moment. We have a Super Bowl champion in Wilson against a Heisman Trophy winner in Daniels, so they’re both used to the spotlight. This came could easily come down to the team that has the ball last, which gives Pittsburgh an even chance.

Washington Commanders -151

If we’re being honest, the Commanders have stumbled to their last two victories. They needed a Hail Mary at the end of regulation to beat the Chicago Bears, and they only beat the two-win New York Giants by five points last week. In that win over the Giants, Jayden Daniels threw two touchdown passes to Terry McLaurin, and tailback Austin Ekeler, starting in place of injured Brian Robinson, got the other touchdown.

On the day, Daniels went 15 of 22 for 209 yards and had a huge 42-yard pass to Olamide Zacchaeus to get the Commanders into victory-formation time. It helped that the defense strip-sacked Daniel Jones in the early going, and the Giants missed a tackle on a third-and-18 play that Washington turned into a first down.

If you like the Commanders, then you know that the favorites have a seven-game winning streak at Northwest Stadium. They also have a 7-1 record against the spread in their last eight games. The Steelers have lost the first half in six of their last seven Sunday contests when they entered as the underdog.

The Steelers lead the AFC North with a 6-2 record thanks to a combination of a balanced offense and a physical defense, but Washington has the more dynamic offense, and adding Lattimore should give the defense the boost they showed they needed when they let New York score 22 points last week.

NFL Game Odds: Steelers at Commanders, Final Score and Prediction in Week 10

Commanders Injuries

For Washington, tailback Brian Robinson Jr returned to practice, although on a limited basis, so it’s possible that his hamstring will be ready for Sunday. Cornerback Noah Igbinoghene (thumb) took part in practice without restrictions, and he is expected to play. Other players who have been limited in practice and remain questionable for the Steelers game include linebacker Dante Fowler Jr (groin), defensive end Clelin Ferrell (knee), center Tyler Biadasz, defensive end Dorance Armstrong Jr. Offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas (ankle) and kicker Austin Seibert (hip) did not practice; neither did tight end Zach Ertz, but Ertz was just held out for rest purposes and is expected to play.

Steelers Injuries

For Pittsburgh, linebacker Tyler Matakevich (hamstring) and wide receiver Ben Skowronek (shoulder) were full practice participants but remain questionable for Sunday. Quarterback Justin Fields (hamstring) was the emergency quarterback two weeks ago after tweaking that hamstring in practice, but he took part fully in practice this week and will be Wilson’s backup.

Tailback Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle) took part fully in practice, but is questionable to complement Najee Harris in the backfield. Guard Isaac Seumalo was held out of practice for rest purposes, but is otherwise healthy.

Did you know Pittsburgh has a five-game winning streak against Washington – and the average margin of victory has been 16.8 points per game? However, the teams only play once every four years, so that’s not the most helpful number. Here, though, Pittsburgh comes out of the bye with a newly dangerous offense against a Washington team that has struggled against teams that aren’t contenders this year.

I predict a final score of Pittsburgh 20, Washington 16.
