The Steelers are favorites to win in NFL Week 1.

Steelers Have Bad NFL Betting Record At Gillette Stadium

Written by on September 9, 2015

It has been an offseason filled with drama, especially if you are a fan of the New England Patriots. The whole “Deflategate” debacle seemed to drag on forever, but has finally come to a close, for now, with Tom Brady’s 4-game suspension overturned. That means that Brady will be under center when the Patriots begin the defense of their Super Bowl crown at Foxborough on Thursday night versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Pittsburgh at New England Game Preview

When: 8:30 PM ET, Thursday, September 10, 2015 Where: Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Massachusetts NFL Betting Odds: New England -7 Over/Under: 54 It is going to be interesting to see just how all of this legal wrangling will have affected Brady. Will it have prevented him from preparing for the season opener properly, or will he come out more determined than ever to show everyone just how good he really is? It is more likely to be the latter, as the Patriots have a little bit of history on their side. ne-patriots Right after the whole “Spygate” issue back in 2007, the Patriots went on to have an unbeaten season, and only missed out on a perfect 19-0 by taking the loss in the Super Bowl. Brady will once again have Gronk and Edelman to throw to, but will be without Brandon LaFell until at least Week 8 of the season. The defense has taken a bit of a hit, too, with cornerbacks Darelle Revis and Brandon Browner both moving on in the offseason. The defense is still solid even without those guys, and it will have to be against a high-powered Steelers offense. steelers-nfl If the Steelers are to have any kind of success this season, they are going to have to match, or perhaps even exceed, what they delivered last season. Ben Roethlisberger is coming off a career year, but is going to be without a couple of his biggest weapons to start the season. Both LeVeon Bell (2 games) and Martavis Bryant (4 games) will be suspended to start the season. The Steelers still have some good depth at the WR position, which should help, and they also picked up veteran RB DeAngelo Williams from the Carolina Panthers. The big question mark is on defense, where the Steelers will be relying on a ton of young guys like Jarvis Jones, Ryan Shazier, and Bud Dupree to get the job done. They could potentially be a very solid group, but they may still be a year or two away.

So, What Should You Bet On?

The Steelers have never won at Gillette Stadium in the Brady era, and have in fact routinely lost by an average of 20 points. That very likely means that the Patriots will get to celebrate in real style after watching their Super Bowl banner get hoisted prior to kick-off.
