Steelers vs Broncos NFL Week 12 Odds & Prediction

Written by on November 23, 2018

One of the most exciting playoff games in NFL history took place between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos at the site of their meeting this coming Sunday. Tim Tebow played his first career postseason game — and threw for 316 yards, averaging 31.6 yards per completion, a league record. That included an 80-yard bomb to Demaryius Thomas in overtime to seal the win for the Broncos, also a record for the longest overtime pass in a playoff game. The Steelers come back to Denver this week looking to extend their six-game winning streak and pursue a top seed in the AFC playoffs, while the Broncos are just looking for a way to turn around their season after dropping six of eight. They had started out 2-0 with a pair of comeback wins, but the magic of the Case Keenum era has already faded. Can the Broncos turn things around? We give you our thoughts in our NFL betting preview.

Why should you bet on the Steelers?

I’m having a hard time believing the line on this game is holding at just three points. The Steelers have won four straight games on the road, as Ben Roethlisberger continues to have a terrific season, throwing for 3,202 yards through ten games and posting a 23:10 TD:INT ratio. Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster have combined for 14 touchdowns, and James Conner has added 10 more scores on the ground and has averaged 79.6 yard per game. The Achilles heel of this Pittsburgh team has been its defense, but they have held opponents to 22.5 points per game. Pittsburgh has covered in five of their last six games overall, including three of their last four on the road and in three of their last four against AFC competition. It is true that Pittsburgh hasn’t covered in any of their last four games against Denver and in just one of their last five games against the Broncos in Denver, but they are on a roll right now, and Denver simply isn’t doing much right on either side of the ball except mount a pass rush.

Why should you put your money on the Broncos?

Sports Authority Field at Mile High has not been a great place for the Denver Broncos lately, as they have dropped three in a row at home. Keenum has an ugly 11:10 TD:INT ratio and is completing just 63.3 percent of his passes. Courtland Sutton has come on nicely in his first season from SMU, but overall the passing game remains down even after bringing Keenum in from Minnesota in the off-season. The Broncos’ defense has been solid in stretches, permitting 23.5 points per game and led by Von Miller’s 10 sacks, but without an offense that can move the ball, the Broncos will continue to lose games. Denver has managed to cover spreads even during their slide, covering in four of their last five games. However, they have covered just once in their last six games at home and in seven of their last 26 games against AFC competition. It is true that the Broncos upset the Chargers last week — and it’s true that the Steelers dug themselves a 16-point hole against Jacksonville last week before roaring back for the win. However, I don’t see Pittsburgh making the same mistakes this week.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I loved the season Case Keenum put together for the Vikings last year as they made a run all the way to the NFC Championship. However, he doesn’t seem to have the same mojo working for him with the Denver offense this year. I see Big Ben leading Pittsburgh to a 31-20 win.
