SU Picks for NFL Week 14

SU Picks for NFL Week 14

Written by on December 8, 2020

The surviving members of the 1972 Miami Dolphins team are breaking out the champagne this week, after the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Washington Football Team on Monday afternoon. Why? Because that Dolphins team is the only squad to go all the way through a regular season and playoffs unbeaten. The closest a team has gotten was the New England Patriots in 2007, who rolled through the regular season 16-0, won the divisional playoff and the AFC Championship, only to lose in Super Bowl XLII to the New York Giants. With four more weeks in the regular season, expect some fireworks as teams sort out their playoff positioning.

We have straight up NFL betting picks for each of the Week 14 matchups.

NFL News: SU Picks for Week 14

Thursday, December 10

New England (+5) at L.A. Rams (8:20 pm ET, FOX/NFL Network)

The Rams are 8-1 when Jared Goff has a quarterback rating over 75. They are 0-3 when that number is below 75. The Rams love to use play-action, motion before the snap and other deceptions to fool the defense, but no defense is more disciplined than the New England unit. Patriots to win.

Sunday, December 13

Early Games

Houston (-1.5) at Chicago (CBS)

Chicago was up on Detroit…and then the Lions came all the way back against that vaunted Bears defense. Remember when the Bears were 5-1? I expect Deshaun Watson to tear up the Chicago D as well. Texans to win.

Dallas (-3.5) at Cincinnati (FOX)

Can Andy Dalton beat the Bengals on his return to Cincinnati? When Joe Burrow was the quarterback, this was a hard “no.” With Brandon Allen at quarterback, it’s a better bet. I’m still not hanging a ton of money on Dallas, though. Cowboys to win.

Kansas City (-7.5) at Miami (CBS)

The Dolphins looked salty in their win over Cincinnati last week, and their defense is their calling card. The Chiefs have started slowly each week as of late, and I think Tua and the Dolphins just might make them pay for it. Dolphins to win.

Arizona (-2.5) at N.Y. Giants (FOX)

The Giants just went to Seattle and won…and they’re home underdogs? Arizona has lost three straight, as opponents are figuring out that if you lock down Kyler Murray’s running game, he won’t beat you through the air. Giants to win.

Minnesota (+6.5) at Tampa Bay (FOX)

Don’t look now, but the Vikings have won five out of six. Tampa Bay needs a signature win here to solidify its claim on a postseason slot. Tom Brady can surely outduel Kirk Cousins, right? Bucs to win.

Denver (+4) at Carolina (CBS)

Drew Lock came back at quarterback for Denver last week, and they pushed Kansas City hard. Carolina still has too many defensive flaws for Teddy Bridgewater to overcome against most teams, but I see the Panthers managing Denver. Carolina to win.

Tennessee (-7.5) at Jacksonville (CBS)

Wow, did you see how badly the Browns walloped Tennessee on Sunday — in Nashville? The Browns were up 38-7 — at halftime. Jacksonville only lost to the Browns by two points. This seems like that point where the Titans follow up another dud with a resounding win, though. Titans to win.

Late Games

Indianapolis (-2.5) at Las Vegas (CBS)

How about that bomb from Derek Carr to Henry Ruggs III to deliver a last-second win over the Jets? The problem for the Raiders is that the Colts’ defense won’t do a zero cover blitz at just the wrong time. Colts to win.

N.Y. Jets (+13.5) at Seattle (CBS)

The Seahawks only managed 12 points against the Giants last week — at home. Luckily, the Jets don’t have nearly as good of a defense. Seahawks to win.

Green Bay (-7.5) at Detroit (FOX)

This feels like a weird trap game, and Matthew Stafford’s thumb is clearly a lot better than it was. But can the Lions get enough stops? Packers to win.

New Orleans (-7) at Philadelphia (FOX)

Will the Eagles start Jalen Hurts or Carson Wentz at quarterback? Will it matter? Saints to win.

Atlanta (-2.5) at L.A. Chargers (FOX)

The Falcons have played well in the second half of this season, while the Chargers are falling off the table. Falcons to win.

Washington (+3.5) at San Francisco (FOX)

Nick Mullens is a gutsy quarterback, and the San Francisco defense is opportunistic. However, so is that Washington defense, and they fear no one. Washington to win.

Sunday Night Football

Pittsburgh (-1) at Buffalo (8:20 pm ET, NBC)

Will the Steelers rebound after almost losing to a second-string Ravens team and then losing outright to Washington? Or will they continue to play what Mike Tomlin calls “JV” style football? The Bills score in bunches and are ready for the spotlight. Bills to win.

Monday Night Football

Baltimore (PK) at Cleveland (8:15 pm ET, ESPN)

This is a lot better Browns team than the one that got rolled in Baltimore in Week 1. But is Baker Mayfield ready for this giant moment? Ravens to win.
