SU Picks for NFL Week 4

SU Picks for NFL Week 4

Written by on September 29, 2020

Here are some interesting observations through three weeks of the NFL’s 2020 regular season. The NFC East has a combined record of 2-9-1. The two wins include Washington over Philadelphia and Dallas over 0-3 Atlanta, who made league history by not just blowing 15-point fourth-quarter leads more than once in a season (which had never happened before) but doing it in two straight weeks. Things don’t get any easier for the Falcons, with a date with the Packers coming next Monday night. The Chicago Bears are 3-0, but they’re changing starting quarterbacks for Week 4, going with Nick Foles after Foles led the Bears to a comeback over those Falcons. The Cleveland Browns are tied with Baltimore in the AFC North standings, but neither team is in the lead, as the Steelers have a 3-0 slate.

What can we expect in Week 4? Check out our straight up NFL betting picks.

2020 NFL Week 4 SU Picks

Denver at N.Y. Jets

Thursday, October 1
8:20 pm ET
NFL Network

Hmmm. Jeff Driskel vs Sam Darnold. Note that the Jets just got routed at home by a San Francisco team that had a backup quarterback and backups in at several other key positions due to injury.

Early Games

Indianapolis at Chicago

Sunday, October 4
1:00pm EST

CBS

Wow. Which Nick Foles will show up? Which Philip Rivers will show up? Foles looked terrific on Sunday afternoon against the Falcons, but can he replicate that against the Indy defense?
Bears to win. | Check the Odds

Jacksonville at Cincinnati

Sunday, October 4
1:00pm EST

CBS

I thought Joe Burrow would lead the Bengals past Philadelphia. They covered the spread but ended up in a tie; I forgot how dreadful that Cincinnati defense can be.
Jaguars to win. | Check the Odds

Cleveland at Dallas

Sunday, October 4
1:00pm EST

FOX

Dallas has given up 97 points in three games. They have the leading pass rusher in the NFL in Aldon Smith, but they still gave Russell Wilson too much time in the pocket last week. Beyond the defensive line, their back seven is already patchwork thanks to injuries and a lack of depth. But they can score in bunches!
Dallas to win. | Check the Odds

New Orleans at Detroit

Sunday, October 4
1:00pm EST

FOX

Both of these teams are 1-2; the Lions just upset the Cardinals, while the Saints lost a shootout against the Packers. I do think that the Saints will take out some frustrations at some point this season, but will they do it in Detroit?
Saints to win. | Check the Odds

Pittsburgh at Tennessee

Sunday, October 4
1:00pm EST

CBS

Two undefeated teams clash in what sounds like a terrific early matinee. The Titans have the slightly better offense, while the Steelers have the slightly better defense.
Titans to win. | Check the Odds

Seattle at Miami

Sunday, October 4
1:00pm EST

FOX

Russell Wilson has thrown 14 touchdown passes in three weeks. The Dolphins’ pass defense isn’t very good.
Seahawks to win. | Check the Odds

L.A. Chargers at Tampa Bay

Sunday, October 4
1:00pm EST

CBS

Tampa Bay leads the NFC South with a 2-1 record, as the Saints and Panthers are stumbling out of the gate. The Chargers have beaten Cincinnati and lost twice since then.
Bucs to win. | Check the Odds

Baltimore at Washington

Sunday, October 4
1:00pm EST

CBS

The Ravens got humiliated by Kansas City on Monday Night Football. Expect them to work out some frustrations on a rebuilding Washington Football Team.
Ravens to win. | Check the Odds

Arizona at Carolina

Sunday, October 4
1:00pm EST

FOX

How will the Cardinals bounce back from losing to the Detroit Lions? They get a shot at a Carolina team that doesn’t do much on defense.
Arizona to win. | Check the Odds

Minnesota at Houston

Sunday, October 4
1:00pm EST

FOX

The Vikings are struggling on both sides of the ball…as are the Texans. Since the game’s in Houston…
Texans to win. | Check the Odds

Late Games

N.Y. Giants at L.A. Rams

Sunday, October 4
4:05pm EST

FOX

The Rams almost came all the way back to beat Buffalo but got hosed with a bad PI call in the late minutes of the fourth quarter. The Giants still don’t have Saquon Barkley.
Rams to win. | Check the Odds

New England at Kansas City

Sunday, October 4
4:25pm EST

CBS

The Patriots’ defense was able to cool off Las Vegas’ offense in Week 3. After seeing the Chiefs roll over Baltimore, I’m not sure the Pats can pull off the same feat this week on the road.
Chiefs to win. | Check the Odds

Buffalo at Las Vegas

Sunday, October 4
4:25pm EST

CBS

Both of these teams are making terrific progress in their rebuilds, but the Bills seem a little farther along.
Bills to win. | Check the Odds

Philadelphia at San Francisco

Sunday Night Football
Sunday, October 4
8:20pm EST

NBC

Carson Wentz is hearing the Boo Birds in Philadelphia, with Jalen Hurts waiting in the wings. He’s facing a team of mostly backups in San Francisco this week, but he’s coming off a tie against Cincinnati, at home.
49ers to win. | Check the Odds

Atlanta at Green Bay

Monday Night Football
Monday, October 5
8:15pm EST

ESPN

If there is a saving grace for the Falcons, I don’t think they’ll be able to build up enough of a lead in Green Bay to blow another 15-point advantage.
Packers to win. | Check the Odds
