NFL Betting Update: Teams Ready to Step into Playoff Contention

With just a couple of weeks left until the start of NFL training camps, the TV talking heads are starting to talk about which teams might fall off this coming season, and which ones will make the step into playoff contention. It really is all talk at this point, as every team is just one major pre-season injury away from crumbling. It’s our job here to put in our two cents, so let’s take a look at some teams that might just be able to bounce back and land a spot in the playoffs. There is some doubt as to whether or not Jameis Winston has the maturity to step in and lead an NFL team, but he does have the benefit of playing in a pretty awful division. It really wouldn’t be that much of a surprise to see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers make the jump from worst to first in 2015, especially if the other teams in the NFC South struggle as badly as they did last football betting season.

Adrian Peterson

The Minnesota Vikings made the news for all the wrong reasons in 2014, as the Adrian Peterson stole the limelight from what was a pretty good year on the field. Yes, their 7-9 record was not particularly special, but they achieved that with a rookie QB, a young defensive group, and without their star player at running back. The Packers are probably going to win the division again this coming season, but I wouldn’t be stunned to see the Vikings steal a Wild Card berth. There are some real question marks about the NFC East heading into this coming season. The Cowboys were a surprise last year, which leaves you wondering if they can repeat. The Eagles are either going to be great with all their changes, or will end up being a team with zero cohesion. The Redskins shouldn’t really be a factor, all of which means the door is now left wide open for the New York Giants. Having Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr. catching balls has to make Eli Manning a very happy man, and let’s not forget that this is a defense that loves to get after opposing QB’s. At 4-12, the New York Jets were among the worst teams in the NFL last season, but things have changed dramatically in the offseason. Rex Ryan has taken his circus to Buffalo, and the team made some spectacular moves in an attempt to build their offense and defense. Geno Smith at QB is still a question mark, but this looks like a team that is ready to compete and get back into the playoffs.
