Top Betting Games for NFL Week 7

Written by on October 23, 2020

If you watched Thursday’s prime-time affair between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles, you saw all of the reasons why the NFC East has produced football that has been hard to watch. Giants quarterback Daniel Jones simply took a keeper around the right side of the line and took off for what would have been a touchdown run of almost 90 yards — only to fall down, untouched, a few yards from the end zone. The Philadelphia Eagles went for two not once, but twice, down the stretch, but couldn’t convert — not even when one of the tries was moved up to the one-yard line. We did see terrific passing from Carson Wentz in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter, as the Eagles turned a 21-10 deficit into a 22-21 lead, and the Eagles did seal the win with a strip-sack of Jones. Philadelphia, now 2-4-1, leads the division and looks like the best team in that heap.

NFL News:  Top Betting Games for Week 7

Dallas (PK) at Washington

How can this game be a pick’em? Because the Cowboys, despite a vast superiority in talent, aren’t putting out quality effort on the field. Xavier Woods, in an interview this week, said it was unrealistic to expect players to put in maximum effort on each play. That’s a pretty accurate (and damning) indictment of the culture that Jerry Jones has instilled in his team by taking the coach out of the chain of command and letting players have his ear directly. Dallas doesn’t have a solid front seven — and they don’t have a secondary — so their defense is wide open. Dallas should be able to mount a pass rush, but if Kyle Allen can get rid of the ball quickly, the pass rush won’t matter.

Andy Dalton looked dreadful against Arizona on Monday night — but any quarterback would have, because as soon as he dropped back to pass, he had pass rushers in his face. You can’t expect any quarterback to come out of that situation doing well. Dalton should have his feet under himself more in his second start, but if you look back to the Giants game, when he came off the bench to replace the injured Dak Prescott and led two scoring drives to complete the comeback, he had time in the pocket. He won’t against Washington. I’m taking Washington to win and cover.

Jacksonville (+8) at L.A. Chargers

Yes, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is a rookie, but he has played extremely well this season. The Chargers’ defense has been spectacular — and it has been porous at times. However, the Jacksonville offense, which looked impressive in a Week 1 win over the Colts, has fallen off the table. Gardner Minshew had a clamp on the starting quarterback job, and that is starting to look tenuous. The O-line isn’t helping him, and the Chargers have a pass rush that will make him run for his life. Then there’s the Jacksonville defense, which was so stout in their AFC Championship run just a few seasons ago, but now has talent and effort gaps on all three levels. Chargers to win and cover.

Buffalo (-13) at N.Y. Jets

Joe Flacco will be the bus driver starting quarterback for the Jets again, as Sam Darnold’s shoulder injury continues to linger. The departure of Le’Veon Bell showed just how toxic the Jet locker room is right now, and the Bills are looking for some redemption for Josh Allen, who has struggled the last two weeks. Buffalo has had some injuries in the secondary, but their starters should be back. It’s a big line, but I like Buffalo to win and cover.
