We’re two weeks into the 2020 NFL regular season, and we already know a few things. Carson Wentz still hasn’t found the same mojo that he had when he rolled through his rookie season. Joe Burrow could be the best right-handed quarterback the Cincinnati Bengals have ever had (apologies to Kenny Anderson). The Cleveland Browns have the best running back tandem since they had Earnest Byner and Kevin Mack both ran for over 1,000 yards in 1985. Hiring a new coach didn’t solve all the problems that the Dallas Cowboys have — it turns out you still have to have depth on your roster, particularly on defense, to win games. Oh, and Drew Brees looks pretty old all of a sudden, but Ryan Fitzpatrick looks quite spry.
Let’s look at our top three NFL betting picks for Sunday’s action in Week 3.
NFL Betting News:
Top Week 3 Games to Bet On
Cincinnati (+5) at Philadelphia (O/U 47)
Sunday, September 27
1:00 pm ET
Both of these teams come in 0-2. The Bengals lost nailbiters to the Chargers and the Browns. The Eagles dominated most of the first half against Washington but then in the next six quarters just got routed. For Cincinnati, Joe Burrow has 509 passing yards, 3 touchdowns and one pick while completing almost 62 percent of his passes. Tyler Boyd has a team-best 11 receptions for 105 yards, while A.J. Green has eight catches. The problems for the Bengals come on defense, because they haven’t been able to get stops when they’ve needed them.
Carson Wentz is just about eveh with Burrow for passing yards (512), but he has thrown four picks against just two touchdowns, completing just under 59 percent of his passes. Tight end Dallas Goedert has emerged as a force in the offense, a sign that Zac Ertz’s time might be passing. DeSean Jackson is having a throwback season so far, with eight catches for 110 yards. The Eagles’ defense has also looked porous, particularly against the pass.
Final Score Prediction:
Cincinnati 24, Philadelphia 20 | Check the Odds
Tampa Bay (-5.5) at Denver (43)
Sunday, September 27
4:25 pm ET
Tampa Bay started the Tom Brady era with a thud, losing to New Orleans, but then they rolled over Carolina last week, 31-17. Brady threw for 217 yards in the win over Carolina, with a touchdown and an interception, and tailback Leonard Fournette rumbled for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Mike Evans had seven catches for 104 yards and a touchdown, so it looks like Brady’s offense is starting to click.
Denver comes in at 0-2 with close losses to Tennessee and Pittsburgh. Losing quarterback Drew Lock has been tough, but backup Jeff Driskel did throw for 256 yards, two scores and an interception in the loss. Courtland Sutton caught three passes for 66 yards but is out for the season with a torn ACL, so the Broncos’ offensive options will be even more limited.
Final Score Prediction:
Tampa Bay 30, Denver 20 | Check the Odds
Dallas (+5) at Seattle (57)
Sunday, September 27
4:25 pm ET
Seattle has looked impressive in their first two games, taking down Atlanta on the road and then returning home to knock off the New England Patriots, and they look to start 3-0 for the first time in seven years. Russell Wilson has only two more incompletions (11) than he has touchdown passes (9) this year, as he is completing 82.5 percent of his passes and has at least two touchdown passes in five of his last seven contests. Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf have combined for three receiving touchdowns, piling up 346 yards.
Dallas has come out of the gate poorly in both of their first two games. Against the Rams, their defense took much of the first half off, and the offense could not come back. Mike McCarthy made the curious decision to go for it on fourth down late in the fourth quarter instead of kicking the tying field goal, and the team ended up turning the ball over on downs. The Cowboys were down 20-0 after the first quarter to Atlanta in Week 2, thanks to two fumbles and a blown fake punt. Somehow, the Cowboys came all the way back to win, 40-39, thanks to a successful onside kick and a field goal as time expired. Another sloppy start will lead to a Seattle rout; even if the Cowboys execute better from the start, Seattle looks light-years better than Dallas right now.
Final Score Prediction:
Seattle 34, Dallas 23 | Check the Odds
