Heading into Week 13, there are quite a few interesting games on the NFL’s schedule. Could Washington really push to an NFC East title? Will Taysom Hill really go 3-0 as the starting quarterback for the Saints while Drew Brees remains out? Can Derrick Henry keep punishing opposing defenders with his signature stiff arm? Which Dallas Cowboys team will show up against Baltimore on Tuesday? Is Carson Wentz really done as an NFL quarterback? Can New England really push to the postseason?
As you consider your NFL betting for this weekend, here are the games we think measure up as the top wagers.
NFL News: Top Betting Games for this Weekend
Sunday, December 6
Cleveland (+5.5) at Tennessee (1:00 pm ET, CBS)
This game brings two bruising running games into the same stadium, along with two quarterbacks who thrive in the play-action scheme. Tennessee has Derrick Henry, while Cleveland has two pounding backs in Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Chubb has 719 rushing yards and six touchdowns even though he missed four games with an injury. Baker Mayfield has Rashard Higgins picking up the slack for Odell Beckham Jr, out for the season with an ACL tear, opposite Jarvis Landry. The Browns have a terror in the pass rush at Myles Garrett, who has 9 ½ sacks. Another interesting fact for Browns fans is that the Titans have failed to cover in five of their last seven games in which they entered as the favorite. The Titans did smack Indianapolis around last week, and they could be ready to make a run — but remember that the Browns also beat the Colts.
Tennessee gets terrific ball security out of Ryan Tannehill, who has a 23:4 TD:INT ratio. Henry has run for 1,257 yards in 11 games. On defense, the team has allowed almost 26 points per game. Harold Landry III has been their pass rusher, picking up 4 ½ sacks. Tennessee has Derrick Henry pounding the ball all over everyone the last two weeks. Can the Browns keep pace? I say yes.
Final Prediction:
Cleveland 27, Tennessee 20
L.A. Rams (-3) at Arizona Cardinals (4:05 pm ET, FOX)
The Rams find themselves in an interesting situation as they head to the desert on Sunday. After beating Seattle and Tampa Bay, the Rams looked ready to seize control of the NFC West with a visit from San Francisco on tap. The 49ers have lost key players at multiple positions, including starting quarterback, but they were able to snag the win anyway, hitting a late field goal to take the 23-20 victory. The Cardinals have dropped two in a row (to Seattle and New England) and three of four (which would be four in a row were it not for that late bomb that knocked of Buffalo three weeks ago) to fall out of the lead in the NFC West and now are just a loss away from falling to the .500 mark.
The Rams have gone 2-2 in their last four games, and we saw the worst of Jared Goff last week. He threw two interceptions on a day when he faced almost constant pressure. Cam Akers did run for 84 yards and a score on only nine carries, which makes you wonder why the Rams did not run more. In their loss to New England, the Cardinals only got 170 yards and a pick out of Kyler Murray. Kenyan Drake did pick up 78 yards on 22 carries, scoring twice. Cam Newton had a terrible day for the Patriots, but a 14-yard scramble on third-and-13 (with a late hit penalty tacked on) gave New England the real estate they needed to launch that late field goal.
Neither team can stand to lose this game, or the rematch that will come in Week 17. The Rams have a slightly tougher slate the resto the way, heading to Seattle down the stretch. The Rams have the better defense, but the Cardinals have the more opportunistic offense. I like experience here, so I’m going with the Rams.
Final Prediction:
Los Angeles 24, Arizona 20
