Over the next few weeks, expect some more shifting in the NFC and AFC standings as some of the logjams sort themselves out. In the NFC East, all four teams have three wins, but Dallas plays Washington this week as the remainder of the schedule will most likely provide separation. Will the Arizona Cardinals be able to move back into the top slot in the NFC West? Will Buffalo be able to hold off Miami in the AFC East? Lots of questions remain, and as you consider your futures choices in sports betting on the conference championship odds.

There are some key matchups in the Week 12 slate that will start movement in the standings. The battle between Washington and Dallas on Thanksgiving would not normally be an interesting one, pitting 3-7 teams that have lost their starting quarterbacks, but thanks to the dreadful quality of the division, these two teams are just a half-game back of 3-6-1 Philadelphia. Dallas actually picked up a quality win on Sunday, beating Minnesota on the road as Andy Dalton led the Cowboys on a comeback drive late in the fourth quarter. Washington won Sunday as well, beating the Bengals, 20-9, using their fearsome pass rush to end Joe Burrow’s season. Washington won the first meeting between these two teams, 25-3, but the Cowboys looked much more complete on Sunday. I like Dallas to win — and to move into first in the division.
Another Thanksgiving matchup will feature Baltimore and Pittsburgh in the prime-time clash. The Steelers are still perfect, at 10-0, while the Ravens have dropped to 6-4 after surprising losses to New England and Tennessee. Baltimore has shown significant problems on offense when it comes to moving the ball down the field — problems that did not emerge last year until the divisional playoff game. On defense, they still give up way too much in the running game despite their offseason additions in their front seven. Pittsburgh has shown steady, patient offense all season, and their defense bends but does not break when the chips are down. The Steelers should move to 11-0 on Thursday night.
On Sunday, the Chargers visit Buffalo in one of the early games. This will be one of those tests that Buffalo needs to pass in order to show that they are a real contender. The Chargers have a savvy quarterback in the young Justin Herbert and a defense that can be opportunistic and grab takeaways. They’ve built multiple-touchdown leads in several of the games that they have lost this season, so the Bills need to take care in each possession. Given that Miami, a half-game back of Buffalo, has the Jets this week, Buffalo will need to win to stay in first place in the AFC East.
Another key Sunday matchup has Kansas City visiting Tampa Bay. The Chiefs will likely need the win to stay a game back of Pittsburgh for the top seed in the conference, while Tampa Bay will look for redemption after losing to the Rams. Tom Brady threw two picks in that game, but he has bounced back well after each Tampa Bay loss this season. Can the Buccaneers harass Patrick Mahomes enough to disrupt the Chiefs’ offense, though? That will be the challenge as the Buccaneers look to keep pace with New Orleans in the NFC South.
