Updated NFL Odds for 2020 Regular Season MVP

Written by on November 9, 2020

As we move past the midway point of the 2020 regular season, it’s time to take a look at the latest odds for the regular season Most Valuable Player award. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is still the heavy favorite, although the sports betting scene on these numbers has shifted a bit after this past weekend’s action. Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen, for example, had huge numbers the first three weeks of the season, before stumbling a bit in the next few weeks. He was back in form on Sunday, throwing for three touchdowns and running for one more against Seattle.

Check out the latest NFL odds as well as our thoughts on some of the contenders.

NFL News:  Updated Odds for 2020 Regular Season MVP

  • Kyler Murray +1600
  • Ben Roethlisberger +2800

  • Ryan Tannehill +6600
  • Aaron Donald +10000

Aaron Rodgers has already won two regular-season MVP awards and looks like he has turned back the clock this season. On Thursday, he sliced and diced the San Francisco 49ers, completing over 80 percent of his passes for 305 yards, four scores and no interceptions. This was his second game in the last three weeks with four touchdown passes without a pick. He threw two picks against Tampa Bay in Week 6, but since then he has thrown 11 touchdown passes.

Josh Allen completed almost 82 percent of his passes on Sunday against Seattle, throwing for 415 yards and accounting for those four scores. This was his best statistical day since Week 2, when he torched the Miami Dolphins for 415 yards, four touchdown passes and no picks, completing almost 69 percent of his passes. It is true that Seattle has the NFL’s worst pass defense, but there have been other teams that have not been able to finish drives like Allen was. If Allen can keep performing like he did in the first three weeks and against Seattle, his odds will keep coming down.

Lamar Jackson is seeing his odds rise to repeat as the MVP. On Sunday, Jackson led the Ravens to a win over the Colts, but he only threw for 170 yards. He didn’t throw for any touchdowns — but he also didn’t have any interceptions or fumbles. He did complete almost 83 percent of his passes, and he ran for a touchdown. With the high competition at work at his position, though, it will be hard for him to repeat.

Tom Brady had looked MVP-worthy ever since the team’s Week 1 loss to New Orleans, posting a 9:0 TD:INT ratio over his last four games. However, in the team’s rematch with the Saints, Brady had a dreadful night, throwing for just 96 yards and posting two interceptions, just the second multi-pick game for Brady this season — to go along with that Week 1 loss to those same Saints. Can Brady rebound against Carolina next week?

Ben Roethlisberger has quietly led the Pittsburgh Steelers to an 8-0 mark on the season. The Steelers found themselves down ten points to the woeful Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, but Roethlisberger steadily led the Steelers to two scoring drives in the last quarter to secure the win. Dallas got inspired play from its defensive line, but the secondary gave up enough opportunities for Roethlisberger to pick them apart as the defense wore down. His numbers aren’t gaudy, but it would be hard to overlook the quarterback of an unbeaten team in the MVP race if the Steelers can keep rolling.

Derrick Henry is the highest-rated non-quarterback on the odds list, thanks to his relentless running style. He just seems stronger with each passing season, and he has demolished opponents week after week. The Titans lost to Cincinnati, which put a tarnish on their season, but Henry keeps putting up numbers — and eye-popping highlights.
