Last night’s matchup between the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers marked Tom Brady’s first game at Gillette Stadium wearing a different jersey than Patriot red, white and blue, and the Patriots were ready for him. If a last-second kick had gone just two feet to the right, a 56-yard field goal would have won it for the home team. As it stands, though, the Pats are now 1-3, along with Miami and the Jets, with all three two games back of Buffalo in the AFC East. There is only one 4-0 team in the NFL now, as Arizona beat the Rams, and Las Vegas has the chance to become the second with a Monday night clash against the Chargers.
Let’s look at the updated NFL betting odds to win Super Bowl LVI.

The Seattle Seahawks have become just about impossible to predict. The reason for this is that their defense has a woeful attention span, and they allow chunk plays. On Sunday, though, they limited San Francisco to two third-down conversions in 14 chances. Also, on the offensive side, Russell Wilson made some big plays, including spinning out of certain sacks and finding receivers down the field, including a long ball to D.K. Metcalf. It’s up to Wilson to find ways to compensate for the defense this season, which will make things difficult in the postseason.
Kansas City is another team that can core in bunches — but will struggle in the playoffs. Against Philadelphia, the Chiefs’ offense was nine of ten on third down and scored a touchdown on every trip into the red zone. However, the defense is still porous, which allowed the Eagles to stay close up to halftime — and will continue to allow better teams to hang around until the end of games and snatch away more victories.
The Los Angeles Rams plummeted back to earth this week, getting run out of their own stadium by the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams only converted in the red zone once, and their passing game struggled for the first time this season. I was skeptical about whether Matthew Stafford could lead the Rams to a title, and he seemed to be proving me wrong through the first three weeks, but it will be interesting to see how he bounces back from Week 4.
Dallas was missing four starters on defense, but they got two more interceptions out of Trevon Diggs (who now has five picks in four games). On offense, the Cowboys were able to score at will against Carolina, running for over 200 yards as a team and getting four touchdown passes out of Dak Prescott. The system appears strong, but the defense needs to get more stops that don’t require takeaways.
Las Vegas has Derek Carr playing at MVP caliber. He continues to throw balls into impossible windows, getting rid of the ball before the iffy O-line allows pressure to get to them. The defense has no stars but has been shutting down opponents, getting stops when they need them. If the Raiders can take down the Chargers on Monday Night Football, they will definitely have to be part of the contender conversation.
