Why Bet on Washington?

Coming off their biggest win of the season, you can be sure that Cousins and the Redskins will be fully motivated to give their best against the Cowboys this week. The Redskins proved their mettle last week when they outclassed Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers in a lopsided 42-23 victory that saw Cousins shine 375 passing yards and 3 TDs (on 21-of- 30 passes) against zero TDs, while rookie RB Robert Kelly also chipped in with 137 rushing yards and 3 rushing scores. This victory marked Washington second-straight win since the 27-27 tie against Cincinnati and helped the Redskins to improve to 6-3- 1 SU and 7-2 ATS. With such a momentum, and the fact that the Redskins are impressively 9-4 ATS in their last 13 overall meetings against Dallas (including an 8-1 ATS mark in their last 9 visits to the AT&T Stadium); it is safe to say that Cousins and the Redskins will be capable of holding their own against the Cowboys this Thursday.

Why Bet on Dallas?

With a 9-1 SU and ATS mark on the season, including a 9-game winning streak that was compounded with last week’s 27-17 win over NFL’s meanest defense, the Baltimore Ravens; it goes without saying that the Cowboys are the hottest team in the nation, both in the rankings and the NFL betting shops. Prescott was the star of last week’s show, as he threw for 310 yards and 3 TDs (on 27-of- 36 passing) with zero picks against the Ravens, and Elliot proved just as pivotal with 25 carries for 97 yards in the win. The hope, or rather the belief, is that these two rookies will be at it once again, supported by veterans like star WR Dez Bryant and the ever-dependable Dallas defense (18.7 PPG allowed, #5 in the nation) that deserves as much praise as any for the Cowboys’ success this season. With the way Dallas is playing right now, it doesn’t look like anything could go wrong for Jerry Jones’ boys. But as was noted earlier, the Redskins always play tough when it comes to facing the Cowboys; a fact that is affirmed by Washington’s 34-23 road win over Dallas last season and the narrow 27-23 home defeat by the Skins to the Cowboys earlier this season. The Cowboys must therefore be careful not to underestimate the Redskins in this game.

Expert Predictions and Picks

It’s really hard to find a reason to bet against Dallas in this game, considering how clutch the Cowboys have been in virtually all kinds of scenarios this season. So, even with Washington having the potential of shocking the lines with an upset, I’ll have to take Dallas for the win. For the ATS lines, well, I will go out on a limb to recommend the Redskins, who’ve shown the ability to not only hang but also beat the best this season. As for the total, it should be a slam-dunk pick for OVER bettors, given the high-scoring nature of both teams in their recent meetings (50 points and 57 points in the last two meetings) and the good form of both offenses over the last couple of weeks. Final Score Prediction: Dallas 30, Washington 25 Writer’s NFL Picks: Dallas for SU, Washington for ATS, Total OVER 52.5
