NFL Week 1 Over/Under Picks
2 days until NFL season: Can the Patriots repeat? Only 8 teams have won 2 straight Super Bowls, most recently the 2004 Patriots. pic.twitter.com/R9MhQ3R6no

Thursday, September 7
Kansas City at New England (8:30pm, NBC) — O/U 48.5
The Chiefs play at a pretty slow pace. While they should be able to grind between the 30s, though, the Patriots have the players in place to lock them down before they get close to the end zone. I see the Patriots getting between 25 and 35 points, but I don’t see the Chiefs scoring much at all. Take the under.Sunday, September 10
N.Y. Jets at Buffalo (1:00pm, CBS) — O/U 39.5
Let’s see — two teams that struggle to move the ball. Two teams with real questions at the quarterback position, as the Jets have to choose between Josh McCown and Bryce Petty, while the Bills turn to the quarterback that they benched for Week 17 in Tyrod Taylor. Give me the under.Jacksonville at Houston (1:00pm, CBS) — O/U 39.5
The Texans have a strong defense and an offense that could struggle to get touchdowns. The Jaguars have a shaky offense and an iffy defense. Those factors add up to a low-scoring affair. Take the under.Pittsburgh at Cleveland (1:00pm, CBS) — O/U 46.5
I’m not sure that Cleveland will find the end zone twice against the Steelers — which means that Pittsburgh would have to break 30 to make the over. The Browns do have a young defense — which means plenty of opportunities for Big Ben. Take the over.Arizona at Detroit (1:00pm, FOX) — O/U 48
I see Detroit making some hay against Arizona, bolstered by optimism from Matthew Stafford’s contract and a desire to finish what the team started last year. I don’t see the Lions winning the North, but I see them taking the Cardinals to the woodshed here. Give me the over.Tampa Bay at Miami (1:00pm, FOX) — O/U 41.5
I see Tampa Bay winning big here — and it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Bucs cracking 30 all by themselves with Jameis Winston and his wideouts DeSean Jackson and Mike Evans hooking up for big yards. That means that the Dolphins won’t have to do much to get us to 42 total points. I’ll take the over.Atlanta at Chicago (1:00pm, FOX) — O/U 49.5
Most of the scoring will happen on Atlanta’s side of the ball — I see the Falcons really taking out some frustration on the Bears in the opener. But can they get the 35-45 points they will need to carry this to the over? Yes, yes they can, with Matt Ryan and Julio Jones hooking up all afternoon. Give me the over.Oakland at Tennessee (1:00pm, CBS) — O/U 51.5
This sounds like a track meet to me, as two of the AFC’s more exciting offenses square off — with Marcus Mariota and Derek Carr trying to win this battle of young quarterbacks. I’ll take the over.Baltimore at Cincinnati (1:00pm, CBS) — O/U 42.5
I see this is a convincing win for the Ravens, but I don’t see them as moving the ball fast enough to score enough to hold up their end of the scoring — and I don’t see the Bengals scoring much at all. Give me the under.
