The Dallas Cowboys (9-4) play their third consecutive road game on Sunday as they visit the New York Giants (4-9). The Cowboys have bounced back from a two-game skid by knocking off the New Orleans Saints and the Washington Football Team. However, those wins came against a Saints team using its third quarterback of the season and against a Washington team that limited Dallas to 20 offensive points – a touchdown, a two-point conversion, and four field goals. The Giants beat Philadelphia at home three weeks ago but have dropped two in a row and three of four, including a 16-point loss in Los Angeles against the Chargers last week. Can the Giants pull off the upset, or will Dallas solve some of their recent offensive woes?

Why should you bet on the Cowboys?
The Cowboys rolled over the Giants, 44-20, in Week Five. However, the Dallas offense seems to have largely disappeared after Week Six. Quarterback Dak Prescott strained his calf while throwing the winning touchdown pass to beat New England in overtime, and he had three weeks to recover, as Cooper Rush led Dallas to an unlikely four-point win in Minnesota. Since then, the Dallas offense has struggled to put the ball into the end zone, settling way too often for field goals. Prescott has struggled with ball security since returning to the lineup; even in the win over Washington last week, he had a pair of interceptions. The running game has struggled, as tailback Ezekiel Elliott has been slowed by a knee injury, and Tony Pollard is out with a torn plantar fasciitis. Corey Clement made an appearance last week and was productive, but the offensive line struggles to open up holes for him, particularly in the second half.
The good news for Dallas is the defense, which had four takeaways against Washington in their win last week. When the Cowboys can pressure the passer and get takeaways, their defense is dominant. When they can’t get takeaways, though, they struggle to get opponents off the field. Their front seven is soft against the run, and their secondary gives up too many chunk plays down the field. Mike Glennon will still start at quarterback for the Giants, as Daniel Jones remains out with a neck injury. If you like Dallas, you see them overcoming a persistent Giant defense and sorting out their offensive issues.
Why should you put your money on the Giants?
Despite having lost three out of four and four out of six, the Giants have won three straight at MetLife Stadium – straight up. They routed the Panthers by 22 on October 24, beat Las Vegas by a touchdown two weeks later, and then they beat Philadelphia by six three weeks ago. Obviously, losing Daniel Jones is a big blow, but Glennon put up decent numbers against the Chargers last week, throwing for 191 yards and two touchdowns, while tailback Saquon Barkley ran for 64 yards on 16 carries. It is a little ominous that the Giants permitted 37 points in the loss last week, but the Chargers do have a high-octane offense – more productive than Dallas’ offense at this point in time. If you like the Giants here, you see the Cowboys coming out a little soft and the Giants taking advantage.
Final Score and Betting Prediction
I think Dallas can come out of MetLife Stadium with a win. Their defense should be able to do the job against another backup quarterback. Will the offense be productive, though? That will be the key question, if you’re looking at betting against the spread. I like the Giants’ defense to do enough to frustrate the Cowboys and make the game a grind. I predict a final score of Dallas 23, New York 16.
