Why should you bet on the Eagles?
Philadelphia’s defense looked terrific on Sunday, as they held Washington to just 64 yards on the ground. While Kirk Cousins threw for 240 yards for the Redskins, the Eagles got tough when the Redskins drew near the red zone. Brandon Graham picked up a pair of sacks as the Eagles kept Cousins from finding time to set up and find receivers down the field. The Eagles will face another big test on defense, though, as Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith looked like a new man last Thursday, heaving several bombs down the field and hitting his men in stride. Those who had written him off as a check-down game manager (a group that includes yours truly) have to give him respect for the performance he put in. The Philadelphia offense was dynamic, thanks in part to the ability of quarterback Carson Wentz to escape the pass rush and find targets down the field. He went 26 for 39 for 307 yards and a pair of scores. Tailback LeGarrette Blount was just average, carrying the ball 14 times for 46 yards. The big target of the day was tight end Zack Ertz, who hauled in eight passes for 93 yards, and remains Wentz’s favorite target. If the Eagles can move the ball like this at Arrowhead Stadium, they have a real chance to pick up another big road win in the early going.Team Statistics

Why should you put your money on the Chiefs?
And how about Alex Smith? He went 28 for 35 for 368 yards and four scores, leading the Chiefs to a 21-point first quarter, and he didn’t look back from there. Those four touchdowns are more than 25% of his touchdown total from all of last season. Kareem Hunt had one of the best debuts in NFL history, catching five passes for 98 yards and carrying the ball 17 times for 148 more yards, scoring three times on the night. Tyreek Hill also went big, catching seven passes for 133 yards and a score. If this offense can keep rolling like this, the Chiefs will be a major force in the AFC. The Chiefs’ defense stood just as tall, even if their highlights were not quite as spectacular. They sacked Tom Brady three times and had six tackles for loss against the Patriots. New England entered the red zone six times but only made it into the end zone on three of those occasions. The Chiefs did lose safety Eric Berry to a ruptured Achilles tendon, which could limit their coverage effectiveness against the Eagles, but they did not suffer a letdown against the Patriots after his departure.Team Statistics
