NFL Week 3 ATS Betting Picks & Predictions

Written by on September 19, 2023

The Los Angeles Rams decided not to dress tailback Cam Akers for their Week 2 showdown with the San Francisco 49ers, a decision that surprised Akers as much as anyone else, at least according to Akers’ social media posts. On Monday, Rams coach Sean McVay told the press that the team was looking to deal Akers – and that the team had briefed Akers on their plans on Friday and Saturday. Akers had 22 carries for just 29 yards (and a touchdown) in the Rams’ Week 1 win in Seattle, and the team has moved to Kyren Williams, the second-year tailback they drafted out of Notre Dame. He had 14 carries for 52 yards and six catches for 48 yards, scoring twice, against the 49ers in Week 2. Read on to find our top NFL ATS Picks going into Week 3.

Denver Broncos at Miami Dolphins

NFL Odds: Denver Broncos (+6.5) at Miami Dolphins
When: Sunday, September 24, 2023, 1:00 pm ET
Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, FL
TV/Live Stream: CBS

Denver has to travel two time zones to the east and play in the early afternoon time slot after losing two games at home to start the season – with neither game coming against a particularly strong opponent. In both of the Broncos’ first two games, the offense has been unstoppable in the first half – only to come out of the locker room after the intermission unable to move the ball and unable to adjust to changes that their opponents have made on defense. The Dolphins ran all over the New England Patriots in Week 2 and kept the hammer down on offense all game long against the Chargers in Week 1, and I see them taking the game to the Broncos as well. Dolphins to win and cover.

Atlanta Falcons at Detroit Lions

NFL Odds: Atlanta Falcons (+3.5) at Detroit Lions
When: Sunday, September 24, 2023, 1:00 pm ET
Where: Ford Field, Detroit, MI
TV/Live Stream: FOX

The Detroit Lions followed up an impressive Week 1 win in Kansas City by blowing a lead at home and losing to Seattle in Week 2. The Lions have a better pass defense in 2023 than they did last year, but Geno Smith was able to find holes in that secondary. I’m not sure if Desmond Ridder is ready to find those holes at the NFL level. Both of these offenses have solid O-lines and above-average running games. David Montgomery is out for the Lions, so we will see whether Jahmyr Gibbs (Detroit) or Bijan Robinson (Atlanta) can do more damage on the ground. The Falcons do have some holes in their secondary, but they were able to stiffen against Jordan Love last week when they needed to. Lions to win and cover.

NFL ATS Picks | Buffalo Bills at Washington Commanders

NFL Odds: Buffalo Bills (-6.5) at Washington Commanders
When: Sunday, September 24, 2023, 1:00 pm ET
Where: FedExField, Landover, MD
TV/Live Stream: CBS

Washington looked impressive in their wins over Arizona and Denver, but the Buffalo Bills showed that their offense could be explosive last week, in their 38-10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Washington has a game defense, and Sam Howell looks like he has potential at the NFL level, but the Bills are already one of the top AFC contenders, and they look like they are rounding into midseason form a bit early. If Josh Allen can temper his gunslinging tendencies so that he puts deep balls down the field with more accuracy, this could be a long day at FedExField. Bills to win and cover.

Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers MNF

NFL Odds MNF: Philadelphia Eagles (-5.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
When: Monday, September 25, 2023, 7:15 pm ET
Where: FedExField, Landover, MD
TV/Live Stream: ABC

The Eagles are showing some early holes in their pass defense, even though their pass rush has been impressive. The Tampa Bay defense did well to stop the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears, with an aggressive front four and a speedy back seven. I think Jalen Hurts will make some tough plays, but I’m not sure that Baker Mayfield won’t make just as many. Bucs to cover.
